Hey guys.

I'm new here and confused as hell concerning the bandwidth used when downloading nzbs.

I've searched and couldn't find a real answer or I just didn't understand it lol.

Okay, I've got a TelkomADSL line with a 3gig cap. Now we get 30gigs local free if I'm not mistaken.

So now the question is, if I download from an nzb file, which say I got from newshost, will it use local or international/blended cap? Or do I need to reach my international cap in order to use the local cap?

Cause I've been told that to use local cap I need to finish my int cap, but then how is it that some of you are downloading +-30gigs a month local?

Thanks very much and sorry if this has been asked before.

You will use your international bandwidth first even if you only download from local sites. That's Telkom doing ilegal things with your paid for international bandwidth!!

My assertion that Telkom/Telkom Internet are in contravention of said regulations has been has been acknowledged by Dr Sharon Horton and I quote "any usage whether local or international, will count towards the customer's cap until the necessary development is completed on the IP network" (Dr. Sharon Horton Senior Specialist Regulatory and Public Policy).
This was in October 2007.
Telkom has zero incentive to change the way things work, so that will not.

....

Yes, you need to use your int 3 gig cap first, regardless if your downloading from local or international sources, it gets used first.

Usually people have two accounts, one to download from (local 30gig) and one to still surf internationally.

Cheers

How on earth did you get a NH account then? Thought it was closed.

Anyway there is a FAQ there that explains everything.
It's pretty well written and easy to follow.

Thanks a lot, that cleared it up. Kind of sucks haha.

@Alf101, I didn't get an account. I just know of the site and used it as an example.
