Very interesting developments happening regarding Vodacom and BIS. Seems they are about to get fukked for throttling services. over 200 cases put together thus far and seeing as though the agreed upon terms and conditions from both BIS and Vodacom do not state a limit download capacity for the R59 paid, everything they do to limit access is illegal. Suggest all with issues of slow to no download capability contact NNet****omboni (at) thencc.co.za from Consumer Protection who is handling this.

Won't that just cause vodacom to call up the 'browsing' details of the whiners which would reveal that they are in fact abusing the system?

It wont make the slightest difference. You could be downloading gigs on an hourly bases and vcom can argue until they are blue in the face. The fact is, under the new legislation regarding the consumer act, there is ZERO reference to a limit or restrictions on capacity in both the terms and conditions for Vodacom and BIS. Thus, what Vodacom are doing is illegal.

Why is it none of the other operators are doing this? I have had numerous conversations with the guys over at CPA and they assured me that Vodacom is in the wrong. This will take a while, but the process is rolling.

Good on you for taking them on, can't stand that company!!!... but based on their resources, I in fact hope that you have done more than had "conversations" with people of the CPA and geared yourself with a good attorney specializing in the CPA or such?

That's the beauty of this. I don't need to take them on. The CPA do all the work once a complaint has been lodged. They investigate. There are over 200 complaints for various reasons submitted by consumers against Vodacom. I'm not 100% positive these all relate to throttling, but I'm sure a fair amount is.
