Hi all

Am on a MyCall 100 package with MTN

Anyone know off hand -

1 - What is the cost of receiving a SMS whilst roaming in the UK & Sweden

2 - What is the cost of sending a SMS whilst roaming in the UK & Sweden

3 - What is the cost of someone leaving you a voicemail whilst roaming in the UK & Sweden

What other charges are you nailed for whilst roaming ?

Thanks

Can you please advise on the below?

1 - What is the cost of receiving a SMS whilst roaming in the UK & Sweden

Some operators charge a once-off terminating fee. Which operators are you talking about?

2 - What is the cost of sending a SMS whilst roaming in the UK & Sweden

What operator?, there are several. You can view a list of charges on the MTN.co.za website under Coverage and Roaming/Int.Roaming/Itinary builder.

3 - What is the cost of someone leaving you a voicemail whilst roaming in the UK & Sweden

It depends if they have their voicemail “conditionally” or “Unconditionally” diverted or taken off completely.

What other charges are you nailed for whilst roaming ? Calls made, Calls received if you divert all calls to VM whilst Roaming you don't pay and you can also use the *111# to dial you back so essentially you only pay for calls made

Thanks MTNDD

- TeliaSonera Mobile Networks AB

Receiving a call - Peak
Tariff Plan + ITRR

I'm on the MyCall 100 package ... so what is it going to cost me to receive a call while in Sweden using TeliaSonera Mobile Networks AB

All I know is that it was bloody expensive, france was 15 bucks a minute.

Anyhow, if you're gonna make more than a couple of call get yourself prepaid, as our networks have a markup over and above what the local call rate is. 10 to 20% in fact.

receive an sending an international SMS + markup.

to send an SMS will cost local operator cost + markup.

try to get prepaid, forward all calls to voicemail and pickup your VM occasionally, get your voicemail using the *111# discussed earlier.

Am I correct that If I disable my voicemail whilst roaming - I will only be charged for calls that I personally answer i.e. if my phone is off or I don't answer the call I'm not charged ?

According to my calculations - it will be cheaper to send SMSs using my MTN cell while in Sweden compared to using my Vodafone UK SIM in Sweden ...

The best option is to divert all calls to voicemail unconditionally. That way all calls go straight into voicemail as local calls in SA.

You can then check up on your voicemail periodically as you will still get notification.

You can still use SMS as well.

To access voicemail from a roaming country, type in *111# and send. This is a MTN voicemail function which will trigger the voicemail box to make an outgoing call from SA to your mobile and delvier your messages. You then only pay SA rates for an outgoing call and not the more expensive roaming call cost.

I'm reading you don't pay for *111# to call you, but from the MTN site...

When roaming abroad you can dial *111# to retrieve your voicemail. This call instructs a call to you from S.A linking you to your voicemail. Cost savings of up to thee times less than phoning your voicemail from your roaming country.

Can you confirm MTNDD?

@damian24

*111# is free.

The returned call is charged at SA rates to the country in which you are roaming rather than the foreign network rates.

If calls are diverted to VM before leaving then no roaming charges apply. If normal diverts are left then roaming charges will apply for the diverted calls.
