Obama is a Socialist?

Yeah how convenient *cough*. His mentor never brought it up when he was over for tea *cough*

From a political perspective what the Dems have been doing is really stupid. There's so much anti-GOP sentiment this year that if they'd nominated someone like Gore or Kerry they'd probably have been almost guaranteed a win, instead now they've given themselves a real chance of losing.

Yeah. Idiots elect an extreme left candidate and the Republicans elect a centrist :D

Another Obama associate has been thrown under the bus. James Johnson

The Wall Street Journal had reported Mr. Johnson, former head of the mortgage giant Fannie Mae, received private loans at below-market rates from Countrywide after he left Fannie Mae.

Countrywide has been accused of helping fuel the subprime mortgage crisis with risky loans.

What's that now? number 4 or 5 to go under the bus. Granny is still hanging on though

EDIT: Or is this just another smear. Quick go check for yourself @ http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/fightthesmearshome/

Nothing. I like the idea of sitting at home leeching off the state and some chums hard earned tax payments :D

That seems to be a rather narrow interpretation. Modern democratic socialism to me seems to be a good counterbalance for capitalism and it's excesses. I understand not all implementations are ideal - but even in a modern democratic socialist state the individuals rights *should be* balanced with corresponding responsibilities.

McCain's probably the Republican's best chance this time. Giuliani wouldn't have been bad either. I don't like McCain but I just think he's their best chance of being elected.

Maybe I'm just cynical one of those denials on the smear page isn't an outright denial. They don't claim Michelle never made the remark, only that
there isn't a tape. His wife is his biggest liability politically IMO.

That's true but socialism amounts to shifting repsonsibility from one group to another. You say to one group they're no longer responsible for looking after themselves and shift that responsibility to another group. That doesn't seem fair to me.

It is a good theory and can work well, but seems to only work in Amish communities.

Like most liberal idealism. In theory it's fine.........

McCain was better than the rest IMO. They're all rather poor candidates from both sides really

The thought of her as first lady . The chip on her shoulder is huge. She's obsessed with race.

Oh and watch yourself. Don't want contribute to right wing racist smear campaigns now

Yeah they are, no good options at all. The 527's are going to have a field day with her once the general election campaigning gets going.

With PAYE, VAT, petrol tax, etc, more than 66% of what I make already goes to the Government, I don't have the benefits of Socialism however.
Nice idea anyway.

That's the nature of socialism though. Those that do the work don't benefit, the people that don't do.
