Obama's popularity is lower than Bush's

Perhaps it has more to do with the Obamasiah embracing Bush's policies :erm:

The problem for Obama is reconciling dealing with the real world as president and the lofty idealists delusions of his base support which he fanned with his promises of "hope and change"

Still 3 years to go before he has to start campaigning for the next election. And with Republicans *still* nursing the biggest case of sour grapes since the ANC lost control of Cape Town, it makes much more sense for Obama to do some work instead of courting universal popularity.

Don't ya think?

Compared to the Dems in 2000 and 2004 the Republicans are as sweet as sugar. I don't see protests, throwing eggs at him etc.. You gotta love the sheer hypocrisy of you people. :o

Problem for Obama is by doing actual work he'll be breaking his promises. Question is when he gets out the teleprompter and the liberal media to arouse his base with tingles in their legs, passing out, crying like 12 years olds at an Idols concert with promises of "yes we can" will it work with 4 years record as pres as opposed to nothing like in this last election.

A) The Dems had legitimate cause to bitch (stolen election, election stolen by BUSH, ffs, etc...)
B) You know what "sour grapes" means, right?

If you really think Obama's that bad, then go chuck an egg at him. Sheesh. Do Democrats really have to do all the thinking 'round here?

Teleprompters are used by all politicians, and were actually used to best effect by the Rt. Hon. His Holiness Sir Ronald Reagan. (!) And yet the Republicans still make monkey noises every time they see Obama using a teleprompter...

Sour grapes, boy. Sour, sour grapes.

Okay.. you all ready for him? Got a meth smoking pastor? Perhaps a call boy or two? You never know with Republicans.. haha, tell him not many people here believe in talking snakes :D

Well, the Democrats do have the Kennedys to keep things "real" :D

Yes Bush "stole" an election and all they did was throw eggs at him :erm:

Yeah real sour grapes everytime Obama embraces another Bush policy.

Really cool, Presidential approval tracker, goes all the way back to Truman

USA Today

Ah! I wanted to see FDR's approval.

Ha! Clinton and Reagan were the only two presidents to have a higher approval at the end of their term than the beginning.

Most popular President incumbent? Clinton in 2000.

Er... and the Bush's had the highest approval ratings in the last 60 years!
Feb 1991 Iraq invades Kuwait
Sept 2001 9/11

How fscking ironic.

Do you actually have any criticisms of Obama, other than the fact that he has to deal with Bush's leftovers and that he uses a teleprompter?

Or his total fumbling of the relief package leading to the virtual disappearance of $77 billion of taxpayers' money.

Not at all. War and propaganda brings people together against a common enemy.

Did a search for "obama 77 billion relief package" and got absolutely nothing.

Your bull**** is hereby called! ;-)

Highest approval rating

George W. Bush holds the record with 90% (9/21-22/2001 -- after the September 11 attacks).
George H. W. Bush is second highest, with 89% (2/28/-3/3/1991 -- after the Persian Gulf War).
Harry S Truman is third highest, with 87% (6/1-5/1945 -- after V-E Day).
Franklin D. Roosevelt is fourth highest, with 84% (1/8-13/1942 -- after Pearl Harbor).

Highest disapproval rating

George W. Bush holds the record with 71% (10/10-12/2008, 4% undecided).
Harry S Truman is second highest, with 69% (1/6-11/1952, 9% undecided).
Richard Nixon is third highest, with 66% (1/4-7/1974, 10% undecided).
George H.W. Bush is fourth highest, with 60% (7/31-8/2/92, 11% undecided).

How do you fsck it up that badly?

Oh right, you lie to the entire country and create a false war!

Obama's popularity 6 months into his presidency among US citizens is lower than George W. Bush's popularity was 6 months into his presidency. Only 55% of Americans approve of Obama after 6 months, in comparison to 56% who approved Bush after 6 months. Obama's handling of the American financial crisis is one of the key points not counting in Obama's favour.

It means nothing. Different times, different moods. The American people are hurting at the moment and hate everything and everyone that they can possibly blame for their predicament, includimg Obama.

The preoccupation with polls in the US is just so much noise.

I have made them clear before. Although I must say I've been pleasantly surprised by him in many areas.

However your silence on issues like defending Bush's wiretapping, breaking the get out of Iraq in 16 months promise, extending "torture by proxy" rendition, military tribunals, detaining without trial....... Just a year ago you were all having hissy fits over this kind of thing but now nothing

Well, you evidently know more about this than me, possibly due to your compulsive scouring of alternative media. So my question is this: you supported Bush when he did this. Why aren't you supporting Obama when *he* is doing this?

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but I would have thought you'd be over the moon at the idea of Obama keeping the nasty evil orcses at bay...

Perhaps you should also read the "alternative media" so as to be more informed next time instead of only the "mainstream media" :)

Like I said I'm pleasantly surprised. However I am not impressed with his lying about it during the campaign. He deliberately inflamed anger, hatred and violence by lying. Then again had he been honest he would have lost the election.

I'm interested in your thoughts about this. Surely you're angry at these policies and being mislead which you no doubt find deplorable? Seems absolutely nobody who supported him will now criticize or condemn him for this. Bit like Madiba :erm:
