Oblivion Remastered - The Thread

Yeah that's the fundamental of the "game' it only really gets good when you're at full level apparently.
Nah, screw that
If you are not a kid or jobless, there is no time to wait for something to get good

It either is or it isn't

I think there lies the problem, Bethesda games (Fallout/Elder Scrolls) you normally do everything but the main story and in Starfield you should do the main story 1st. <-- this wasn't really communicated because of the spoiler potential.

Back to topic: Really enjoying Oblivion revisit, I actually wanted to re-play this when I bought the Xbox Series back in 2020. Sadly it was not available in Microsoft SA store, only Morrowind and Skyrim so replayed those. Now I am actually glad I didn't.

Taking my time exploring the map and farming dungeons. Only LvL 17 now but at least I got a house in Cyrodiil to dump all my Loot :D

I'm enjoying this game so much, loving being back in the Elder Scrolls world again! As someone who's only played Skyrim, this game is amazing, exactly what I was looking for.

I think I'm level 21, been working on magic, alchemy, blades, sneaking and marksman skills mostly. Ignoring the main quest, trying to complete the mage guild quests but getting distracted by all the people desperate for my help

Not me. In Elder Scrolls I always ALWAYS do the main story first. I leave all side quests etc for afterwards. Like in Oblivion, once the main story is done I don't have to worry about those Oblivion gates anymore. Can just chill and do the side quests at my leisure :)

Same with Skyrim, same with Fallout.

In Oblivion for example i complete the main story first, then I do Nights of the Nine, then the Shivering Isles main story. Once all 3 main stories are complete I move on to all the guilds. When I've completed all the guilds I focus on the rest of the side quests. Found this to be the perfect way to play these games for me. Can't imagine playing it any other way.

In Oblivion if you don't go to the burning city, no gates; the same with Skyrim if you avoid going to the keep in Whiterun, no dragons.

So I normally do everything before I progress the story. :D

Never did the DLC in Oblivion back in 360 Days. Had a 360 Arcade so had no space to shop online. Actually looking forward to completing them esp with all the praise Shivering Isle got back then.

No you see, as a guy who loves role playing and immersion etc, playing it that way around makes absolutely no sense lol. Because you know Kvatch is there, you pass it all the time, you know there's trouble. You know there's a crisis in Cyrodiil because the emperor instructed you to close shut the jaws of Oblivion before he was assassinated.

So why the hell would you ignore the burning city of Kvatch all that time?????? No man! :(

Complete the main story first then all Oblivion gates ruining the beautiful landscape will be gone. The crisis will be over and you'll feel a great sense of accomplishment as you relaxingly do all side quests. That's the correct way to play the game lol :p

Shivering Isles is amazing. Up there as one of the best expansions in gaming.

Got the game from the high seas on Friday, game runs ok for me. Low 40's outside in most areas, indoors constant 60FPS.

People claiming 15FPS are stupid, I bet they are cranking everything to the max on their mid tier PC on 4k.

Only complaint is the running animation, running up a hill you are literally parallel with the ground.

Must clarify, I always play the game normally 1st time but I never max out 1st character either. Also never play those type of games only once. Have to check out other classes.

I was obviously waiting for the remaster ;) The old graphics put me off quite a bit, especially when I had games like CP2077, The Witcher 3 and Horizon (Zero Dawn and Forbidden West) to play instead.

I hope it gets an optimization patch soon. I don't have a beast of a PC but CP2077 runs better on ultra then this does on high settings.

Its one the key complaints re UE5, its one of the worst engines ever.

Oh and:

Skyblivion will stay in old Skyrim Engine.
