Here is my problem

in 2004, i failed grade 11, my high school were prepared to transfer me to grade 12 but i instead decided to do my N2 an N3 (thats what they called it in those days at a technical college.

It was a rough time in my life so i have no records of anything. as far as i remember i passed my N2 (grade 11 equivalent). i did my N3 but i wasnt sure if i passed or not. i now want to get my matric or a NSC equivalent but i have no idea where to start as some people have told me i can convert marks and subjects and perhaps not even need to do matric or write exams. i urgently need a matric to retain my job. All government websites are tedious and no body answers calls when i phone

What do i do?:X3:

When do I write the exams?
The ASC exams take place in June/July 2019 each. Registration for the exams must be done at any education district office or online. Registration for 2019 is open from 10 October 2018 to 31 January 2019. This story contains a list of district office numbers.
Who can write the Amended Senior Certificate?
Those who qualify to register for a Senior Certificate are adults over the ages of 21 with one of the following:

  • a General Education and Training Certificate (GETC), or
  • a Grade 9 or Standard 7 report stating they passed the year, or
  • a recognised equivalent obtained at NQF level 1 which requires two official languages.
You can also register if:

  • you have an incomplete Senior Certificate, or
  • your School-Based Assessment (SBA) has expired.
Only in special cases will candidates between the ages of 18 and 20 be allowed to write the Amended Senior Certificate exams. This will be done at the discretion of the Head of Education in their province. Prospective students must also have one of the following before applying to the head:

  • a GETC for Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET),
  • a Grade 9 or Standard 7 report stating they passed,
  • a recognised equivalent qualification obtained at NQF level 1, which required two official languages.
It will happen again this year, but you will only be able to write in a year's time.

Thanks man, i have read the article, i passed 3 of my subjects in matric and i have gotten a nqf 4 since, so i want to try avoid writing and possibly get exemption or do a single subject
You'll probably have to do all the minimum number of subjects since they probably won't recognize the other subjects you did as you did not get the final certificate at the end.
Think the minimum number is 6 subjects. It depends on the what the admin there thinks you should do.

If you've gotten an NQF4 since then, you shouldn't need the matric? Seems a bit strange unless you lied about having a matric when applying.
