US$399 is a reasonable price, but having to add an extra $80 for shipping and $60 for import duties (via AmazonGlobal) isn't. With the new headsets being released next Tuesday, hopefully we'll find out if any of those 4 manufacturers plan to sell their HMDs locally.
As for the games, I'm worried about how other big studios and publishers are going to react to what happens to Fallout 4 and Skyrim VR. IMHO the way Bethesda is going about VR-ifying the two is the complete wrong way. It seems as if all they're doing is adding stereoscopic view and alternative locomotion modes, instead of looking from the ground up at how the player interacts with the game.
Things like holding weapons instead of pointing them, of picking up objects off the floor instead of pointing the controller at them and pressing 'E', of grabbing the door handle and turning it instead of hovering the cursor at the door and pressing a button. Swinging a super sledge at a Deathclaw instead of just pressing the attack button. Having to hold a gatling laser in both hands while striding around in power armor. But from what I've been seeing in article and user feedback, it seems like it all they're doing is letting you look around in VR and teleport around, while retaining the same "feel" of 2D keyboard and mouse input interface.
