Since upgrading to Leopard I find I am unable to view certain websites correctly (Java rich sites like Facebook and Gumtree are two examples) basically the page comes out white with all of the copy but no images and formatting and obviously none of the interactive parts work (buttons/forms etc.)

Here's the real embuggerance: this is only true at home on my WiFi network - WiFi at work: no problem.

Any ideas?

I had the same thing and cleaning up safari's caches and all sorts cookie clearing seemed to fix it but your mileage may vary...

Hey -thanks for the reply, problem exists in FF and Safari, someone suggested a DNS flush which I have done but need to get home to test as its only on my access point at home that I experience the problem.
I'll try a full clear out too though, thanks! ;)

This is an odd problem, if you plug it directly in, instead of wireless do u still get the same problem?

Never upgrade, always archive and install.

..haven't tried that test, I will though - I assume you'd extrapolate a firewall type issue from the results?

I had a fantastic experience with the upgrade. It went very smoothly and quite quickly and everything (apart from the problem I mentioned) is working just as it was prior to the upgrade. Whatever this issue is it will definitely be less hassle to sort out than reinstalling everything (I have virtual machines with countless networks ans synchronisations set up for work - having to do all of that again would put me off the entire exercise. Based on that I'd say that upgrade is a necessity for some.)

Have you tried deleting and recreating the problematic network connection?

nope, it would be something similar to what bwana suspects....i suspect

i suppose u could also try the connection as another user account on the machine whilst ur troubleshooting....

Archive and install keeps all those files and settings as well. It's just better for your system, have come across too many system's with Upgrade's having taken place that give issue's. You'll know what I mean in about 3-6 months time.

The old mac chicken and egg.

1. Archive and install or upgrade?

2. Do I need to defrag my drive?

3. Do I need antivirus or not?

1. Never upgrade, perhaps leopard upgrades are better now....i doubt it but maybe......i agree with Stba fully, if u have ever done a few upgrades for clients you will realise the amounts of issues that arise from it.

2. no

3. According to me, yes. Every other mac user...no. Long debate, lets not open that can of worms just yet....
