OECD: No Reason for Local Capping

Uncap local, affordable speed - then we could have affordable local hosting, local bit torrents, remote working from home properly.

It is madness that in the modern world companies limiting internet access (for legitimate business purposes) because of cost.

Aside form being in direct breach of the law passed and signed by the President of South Africa, which stipulates that local bandwidth CAN NOT BE CAPED!!!

There are issues of what is the ongoing ADSL circuit charge levied for, IMHO if Telkom is charging for the connection to local ADSL circuit thus access to ALL LOCAL access has been unlawfully restricted!! Only justified action is that all consumers are to be reimbursed for all the ADSL circuit levies charged thus far.

Some minor issues like IP reseting etc etc should be addressed too.

And than move to EXORBITANT bandwidth price and issues of capping and shaping those should not be used in combination. Understandably ISP's need to protect their networks but only one or the other should be used at same time!!!1

Not only free, but you shouldn't need a separate account for it: you should have *one* ADSL account and its cap should *only* be reduced for traffic that travels internationally.

Amen to that. And it should cost R300 for 10 gigs International and unlimited local. And the punks should reduce the cost of hosting sites locally so we can actually get some good local content...

"Hearings into Telkom’s non-compliance with the ADSL regulations are scheduled for 24, 25 and 26th October 2007"

Tomorrow you sons of b$tches!!!!!

We can only hope can we?

Telkom started capping local to screw over the ISPs offering cheap vpn solutions...its just that simple
