Two minor break-ins in the last few years at the business park where the office is. Not enough to warrant signing up with ADT etc. so really just looking for a mild deterrent for anyone who does break in to cut their time short. There is 24hr security on site so an alarm going off will get their attention as well. Any recommendations for something I can put up myself?

Saw these on takealot but the company seems a bit meh and it's not clear where to get more sensors (their website is a joke).

LOL @ that site ... stay away is my advice

I have something similar in my garage but it was about R500 from Takealot.
I got false alarms from the PIR gadgets due to odd bug here and there getting in the way so I went hardwired switch detector on the garage door, so now alarm will only go off when the door opens.
Dirt cheap, you must just check if your alarm uses the NC or the NO switches.
(Normally Closed or Normally Open)

DSC is nice and reliable, but an absolute pita to configure on your own. Have not used Paradox or IDS but heard they good too

Texecom makes great panels, and systems and their stuff is bullet proof and easy to setup. I've done 3 between home, office and friend's house. And their wireless ricochet stuff is amazing too but very expensive. But worth it if you don't wanna pull wire.

Generally if its not in this list:
Paradox
IDS
Texecom
DSC

i would avoid.

Paradox wireless and ip50 makes it really easy to install.

I have a Magellan 5050 with 867Mhz units. Stick the units where you want and add to the system, no wires. Only wiring is your base console, battery , PSU and keypad.

Ajax is pretty good too. I've been a Paradox fanbooi for a long time, but I recently had to get an alarm system up and running at my Mom's new place and decided to give Ajax a go. Super simple to setup and so far been very reliable.

Not enough to invest insecurity? Really ? What will it take you to be finally convinced?

Those cheap systems are rubbish. Get a proper system with monitoring.

Or at least get Paradox, IDS or AJAX for self monitoring. But it won't cost you a R1000.

Ajax is fantastic, just not cheap.
Neither is Paradox but I've had my system since pre-covid and no issues besides battery replacements.

You get what you pay for but many think cheap systems are fine. Rather get a expensive system that you can add on. My paradox allows up to 32 wireless sensors and I think still like 16 wired or something if I wanted .

*edit*

Sorry 32 in total and 8 hardwire if needed.

8 on-board zones (16 with ATZ)
Built-in transceiver (433 MHz or 868 MHz)
Expandable to 32 zones, 2 partitions, 32 users and 32 remotes

Not sure about the other boards, but the MG5050+ includes the 5 hardwired zones in the 32 zone count. But you soon start running out of zones. I've got 32 wireless detectors connected to my Paradox and I really wish there was a way to add more. 32 zones is not enough for a paranoid android like myself.

I think there is a expansion board? But I would upgrade the main unit if that was the case, 32 is a ALOT, I think I literally used half that across house and granny flat.

Not doing outside beams though.

Or run two boards but control it thought a HAOS but there must be a solution for larger ones I sure.
