Got a strange question to ask.
We're in the process of finalising an offer on a new place.
The place was bought on auction a few years ago, and no one has stayed there for about 4 years.
Now, this is a plus for us, as no tenants have messed up the place, but because no one is staying there, and the Seller is a company that does investment buying and selling, no one has disputed the Municipal Valuation Roll, and the value on the house is higher than we would like it to be.
Is there anyway to historically dispute previous valuations or can we really only start from the following year?
In the area, houses are valued about half a bar less by the municipality than what they're sold for, but for this house its about R200k more.
