So I have to download an app just to apply? Seems ridiculous. I used to have an FNB profile back when Discovery still used them but have since forgotten my username and password. There's no way to reset both because I need a card number and pin, which I no longer have because Discovery don't use FNB anymore. This means even if I download the app I can't use it because it thinks my ID is linked to an existing profile and I need to log in, with said credentials that I've lost long ago.

All other banks took 5-10mins on their website to apply just fyi

Go with any of the other banks then please. Wanted to help you by giving an email address, but go with any of the other. Scared an email is also to much work. (Hope you get a good rate anywhere else)

Not sure why you're so triggered. But okay, have a good day

Its quickly to say any third party bad online. Social media can be evil in this sense, tell how k@k is a bank.

Secondly, trying to help, and all you do is moan and complain.

And lastly, chatting to fnb HL directly now to help you. Why even bother...

I hear you. I initially tried to get one but had no success. Powerbond took 4 days to reply to me, and OOBA had some issue on their website that didn't allow me to register. So I gave up and just went ahead and applied myself: I applied to SAHL, Nedbank, ABSA and Standard Bank. FNB don't seem to have an online application platform, quite shocking. Nedbank was the most responsive by far and have already come back with an offer of 6.95 (If I open a transactional account with them) or 7.2 if I don't. ABSA gave me pre-approval for 7.05 but still waiting on confirmation from them.

Still waiting on the other banks.
Did you try better bond?
Nedbank has been least responsive on all of the 3 houses we have bought.
FNB and Absa have been the quickest but FNB rates have been lowest for me.

I did not try BB, but not sure if I need to anymore since I've all but done the applications myself now.

I never said they were "k@k" and I didn't moan and complain. I said it seems ridiculous that I have to download an app just to apply, when my experience with other banks were quick and effortless. It's my own opinion and you don't have to get so triggered by it, honestly. Additionally I shared with you my problem with the App and my old user profile, the only way I can fix that is probably to go into a branch.

At the risk of derailing this thread any further I bid you a good day.

Ah that’ sucks. Powerbond was super responsive with me, even giving me WhatsApp updates. I’m so disappointed as I have been recommending them but maybe it’s the time of the year.

Good luck. I found the bond application process the worst part.

Just to be fair to FNB, which I think I am because I'm a client - I couldn't even get a pre-approval number from them. They flat-out refused without a specific property and address to work with.

Then, when I finally found a property, they refused to give me a 100% loan over 30 years (which I need), and when I pushed for 30 years they went for an 80% loan (in other words, 20% deposit, which I don't have). They also offered me the highest interest rate out of all the banks I applied with.

I'm their client. Have been for years. Never missed a single payment on anything and my credit score across the board (I checked with numerous agencies, including FNB's own built-in tracker) is between the best and the second best markers.

FNB is **** for home loans (not even zerocool could help me). Got my car financed through them though.

A stranger is trying to help you. But if you think they are ridiculous, rather go to another bank or your own, nedbank

I might think the appetite for non fnb clients aint big to apply via FNB HL.

We aint derailing the thread. Applying for a bond at all or most financial institutions is important.

Hope you went direct with Nedbank to get their homeloan perks.

Wel just got my feedback from FNB, they gave me prime - 1.05, thats 0.75 lower then absa. I now just need them to change the loan duration from 20 years to 30 years.

When you change the loan term they are going to change the interest rate as well.

That was the case with us anyway when we checked out all the options.

I hope they change it lower :p

It will be, as the risk is lower. But be careful changing years on the fly, as its legal costs again. So if you are in the process of getting a bond, 20 years are without a better deal than 30, but it all comes down to affordability
