Offers of Uncapped service

bwana - many UUNET resellers still believe its Uncapped and Unshaped, they know how to provide the service but lack the technical information.

Its strange but true, to many resellers without information.

Yes indeed. It is uncapped not unshaped, P2P protocols are shaped.

Dont mind the P2P shaping really as long as Skype continues to work. How radically does UUNET shape? I'm going to move to cyberonline next month so I'll run some tests then - does anyone have any suggestions which to run?

I am going to meet with UUNet administrators regarding capped and shaping of there service. I know that P2P BitTorrent works like a dream. Skype also works well, as UUNet doesn't regard as it as PSP but Voice Over IP. I will update once confirmed with UUNet administrators. Thanks all for the input which is so valueable. IT Web published an article regarding uncapped service which was enforced by this forum. well done to all who made that possible. It seems us the user's pose a threat and now have to do something about. It is so sad that we are the highest paying users in the world for such service.

ok regarding UUNET shaping, put it like this... They seem to know how to shape :)

Shaping as Tharaxis posted in another thread isnt neccesarily bad or very negative, its a way to make ends meet.

We all know Telkom shaped accounts are terrible latency wise internationally, but downloads ie. via bit torrent still flies at maximum speeds 24/7, its shaped but you still get full bandwidth.

Now back to UUNET, they seem to know whats clapping whem it comes to shaping, everything they do shape still works like a dream what I hear. They had some networking problems Im sure everyone is aware of by now, but it seems to be clearing up.

If only they could offer their uncapped for R480 / month ;-) *cough* AYCE *cough*

Thats odd - as here on their website they clearly state "CyberOnline’s service is Uncapped and Unshaped.".

Might I ask where you got your info from?

Download their order form and you will see that the "unshaped" is removed!!!!

to me it looks like they are shaping p2p during business hours and its unshaped during evenings and weekends.

do not sign this contract wait for a while because this is a marketing strategy for dotco.you will be bound to a 12 month contract.wait just a while.there will be a cheaper one. things about this capping will change soon.i heard this from a reliable source in the monopoly company you know who

I have signed with Web Africa, very good responses received and service. I know that payment for such service is largely over priced. In the end it would be great to get it for free or cheaper. In my investigations saw others but they all make false promises. In overall Web Africa was very helpful and so far so good.

All you can eat is not Uncapped, they restrict to 30GB per day i think, and the price is promotional, i think its gonna jump to R900 and something
