Hello,

2 questions

How is it possible to show/hide the bottom right part of outlook that shows when emails are being sent/receiving.

How is it possible to set in word that all documents must be saved & created as .doc instead of .docx (I did edit the word options under file, word options / save tab but whenever I create a new document it doesn't help, it is still saved as a .docx file)

I dint think either is possible but I am no expert

The second one would be possible by installing an older version of office :p

open word / 2007 doc what ever.

Click top left on that windows thing/ sign.
New window arive , there is this word optoins tab. click on save and choose *.doc
Dont know why they got this x at the end, [ better doc/ safer doc. easier to email]
Save and exit.

There you go.

You can set Office 2007 to save as 2003 format (.doc)

Most companies do this.

Click on the "office button" - options - save - "save files in this format" and choose "Word 97-2003 document (*.doc)

Thanks gdiza, h did this however, the files are still being created as .docx ? The office might be corrupt then :<

Remember, you need to do this in Word, then Excel, then Powerpoint for it to save in each different program.

If you've already created the file (.docx) then you need to open it "SAVE AS" and do it as a .doc file and delete the .docx

Once you've changed the setting in the necessary programs, any file you SAVE after, will be saved correctly - if not... bru, you've fracked it up! :D

The OP was asking how to make saving as .doc the default rather than .docx? The procedure he mentions is the correct one, and it should stick, i.e. open the Options window where you set all the program's configurations, go to Save and in the screen which then appears, specify doc. That setting should now stick -- though of course you can always choose different formats for individual documents using Save As. You should perhaps restart Word for it to take effect.

The .docx format is tighter (i.e. more compressed) than the older .doc format, so that documents are smaller. This can make quite a difference when emailing.

I understand your views on .docx and why it should be used.
But it becomes a problem for certain people when the receiving persons are too 'special' to understand what docx means and why they can't open it.
