Office 365 subscription. The price for Office Professional is crazy. :p

Does Office Professional come with all the free OneDrive storage space that Office365 does?

Somebody pointed out one can cheaply buy Microsoft Professional keys on Amazon (like 15 pounds or cheaper), but without the OneDrive space I'd need to migrate everything to some other cloud storage solution first.

No, it doesn't. Office 365 also include free Skype minutes. :)

Yeah ok, guess I'm staying with O365 then. With five device licences I've at least got it working for both myself and my wife, and on our phones, so it makes it seem a bit cheaper.

You can purchase up to five years subscription in advance to beat any price increase. :)

Yeah maybe a good idea, but considering this price increase was a hefty R5, I'm not terribly motivated to do that lol. Even though I should, just to get rid of another monthly debit order.

The price for Office 365 Home increased with R50. I expected it to be much higher given the poor exchange rate. :)

The price increase isn't bad at all. The exchange rate had actually been just above or below R13 to the US$ for some time now. If the exchange rate was going to be a factor, then there shouldn't have been a change in the price.

Had no choice but to lock in for 12 months.
Who removed your choice? Did the Msft Enforcement Squad pitch and threaten you? If so, call the cops.

I'm one of those idiot suckers who doesn't mind paying for an O365 subscription. For me it's a bargain.

Given the prices, I wonder which is cheaper, buying every 3 years or paying subs...

If you actually use all the services such as the Skype minutes, 1TB Onedrive storage and more so installed across 5 devices there is no way you can beat the price of the monthly subs compared to buying the stand alone single license every time they get renewed.

But if you are a single user and don't have a need for the other stuff then that's why the offline version still exists.

Office 365 is an entire service, not just an application suite.

I have to agree here.

You knew this was a month to month service when you signed up for it and really should have expected an increase over time or a change in the offering.

That being side the timeline does seem a bit questionable, usually Microsoft does this stuff well in advance.

It is definitely a bargain for a Microsoft 'retired' employee for use on a single (Microsoft - again) Surface Pro R30K laptop. .LOL.

One system?? Do you know anyone in the industry who has only one PC???

If you're gonna make things up at least get a little more creative.

I've made a concerted effort to simplify my life. So far this year I've managed to slim down from thirteen PCs to eight, not counting the wife's.

Leaving aside the O365 Enterprise subscriptions, my wife and I each have an Office 365 Home subscription, which we share out between the kids and a few siblings. So there's not nearly enough to cover just my own systems at home.

Single PC my foot. The SP4 takes an Enterprise subscription.

It is what people expect from a retired person.

Sorry to resurrect this... my Office 365 Home just came up for renewal. Discovered that it is now R1 199 a year.

Then I looked around a bit and I saw that you don't have to renew it through MS -- you can buy the license card at any retailer and enter the code on MS's website to renew it. It is a box with a card inside - that's it. I haven't seen electronic codes anywhere.

Apparently you can even stack them -- so buy them at discount when you find a good bargain and load one after the other and keep your effective subscription fixed for a couple of years.

At the moment Takealot sells it for R999 (seems to be normal price) and Loot for R866 - http://www.loot.co.za/product/microsoft-office-365-home-premium-license-key-only-1/hhgy-2519-g660.

I'm about to hit "Place order" -- just wanted to check if anybody else has done this (or know of an even better discount somewhere)
