Hi Guys,

Thought to ask here, as I see a lot of issues on Microsoft tech site relating to this, guess mac users have the same issues as us windows guys.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...achments/0f5f13bb-1e83-4a54-a7f8-c5d0548559e0

we have exactly the same issue, EXACTLY the same, with the same software and the same symptoms for certain users,

outlook for mac, 2016, randomly wont download some attachments, most people are on the newer version 16.11
but a few on the older version still exist,

tried the recommended fix, IE delete and rebuild the cache, NOT an Possibility for many.
let me repeat that, NOT a possibility for some, with more than 8 years of Emails inside their mailboxes.
also, outlook never quite comes right, afterwards randomly keeps downloading files, and not updating, even after leaving it for a while.

thought to ask around, in case people have solved this issue with something other than delete the cache.

saw this little tidbit, and before deleting this plugin, thought to ask,
Try removing the WebEx64.plugin from the Users/username/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder....

firstly has anybody seen that before? and what will deleting this plugin do?

Why use outlook on a Mac?

Mac Mail is much better.

Alas, have you tried to update them all?

You can delete that plugin, was probably installed when a webex session was done on the laptop/pc...

Why do they have 8 years of emails in their Inbox?

Even so cache shouldn't affect their permanent PST data storage and no mail should be lost.

Assuming there is a PST of course...unless you literally mean they've been using a Live mailbox for 8 years? That would be a massive administrator failure if that is the case.

Not if you are using Exchange unfortunately.

Same sadly applies for Windows otherwise I would have thrown it away a long time ago.

Mac integrates well with Exchange. I'm running two Exchange accounts. To difference is that your mail, calendar, notes, contact etc. isn't in one bloated app called Outlook.

And fully agree. Outlook is horrible, even on Windows.

thats my next question, they seem to store everything on OST, as per my understanding, do agree that's a f*** up of note.
I assume it works the same as windows then? no matter that its on office 365? and on Web access everything works correctly/perfectly.

so one can create PST's on Mac exactly the same as Windows? and still keep to the PST size limits at 3GB ect...?

and one needs to archive mails and manage the size of the mailboxes OST size exactly as in windows?

Ill find out why it hasn't been done that way, maybe their is something I dont know about for them to store mails on OST constantly.

MS If I understand correctly, hasn't released a fix? please correct me if Im wrong?

Granted it’s been a while since I used Exchange on a Mac but it was always a case that some things just didn’t work completely like Shared Calendars and Shared Mailboxes etc.

Yes it works exactly like Windows PST.

And the 3GB limits haven't applied for YEARS now and never did on MacOS cause it had a proper filesystem from the start...

using office 365, and as I mentioned previously, OWA everything shows perfectly,

can one use mail for mac instead of outlook?

You can use Apple Mail yes, but like I said above some features used to not work fully.

That may very well have changed...or might not be relevant in your setup.

Honestly, I've not tried shared calendars and mailboxes. But for a single account, it works really well.

Yeah for a single user it's a no brainer.

In a corporate context it wasn't that friendly back in the day and I suspect these things still only work in Outlook as is the case on PC.

I much prefer Apple Mail to the point I literally ran both at one point with the same mailbox.

so by your reckoning, if things stored in an OST? like I assume they are here,
it should work correctly? no issues with attachments and so on? as Mac has a superior file system, as you mentioned before?

why is it then happening? bug from Microsoft side?, that not fixed?
remember office 365, so MS controls the mailbox sizes.

did check this folder, on a users PC, not sure if this is where the OST is placed?
/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office Identities/Main Identity/Data Records/

went further than this and found files called om and then another called ob and then finally, got to lots of files with numbers going from 0k to 67K
inside each of those individual folders, was a few files with .message

strange that the entire (root) folder was only 650 MB, so it must be not there from the beginning.

also was suggested on another forum to look in
Users/username/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/

would I find anything there, haven't yet looked.
