Can't believe the teams that have survived...But wow, Newcastle have been poor.
Hull, Wigan, Stoke, Sunderland..All pretty poor really.

Definitely never expected Hull and Stoke to stay up and Newcastle go down
Exactly.![]()
Why the sad face? Perhaps this is the shock Newcastle needs to pull themselves together. Also good to have two minnows stay up for their loyal long suffering fans. Pity Middlesborough went down though because of their willingness to give English youth a chance in the top flight.
Yeah but look at Leeds. They were one of the best teams in English football a few years back and now they're buriend in the second league. That could very easily happen to Newcastle.
Hull were great for 10 games - after that they were just as bad as Newcastle and Boro.
True about the Boro youth...Maybe the 6+5 rule wouldn't be a bad idea afterall...
Yeah but Hull never had the financial muscle that Newcastle and Middlesbrough have.
Could quite possibly happen. Hence the need to catch a wake up

With Newcastle and Middlesbrough now in first league, won't they lose some big money TV deals that you get from being in the EPL? First league is not nearly as glamorous as the EPL is.
They'll lose tonnes of cash. Still got a large fanatical support base though in Newcastle's case. Problem is getting the wage bill and debts down. They'll lose players on the cheap and will somehow have to replace them with quality players. Mr Ashley is going to have to dig very deep in his own pockets if Newcastle are going to get back up after only one season out IMO.
That has Leeds written all over it. Of course Leeds also had the revenue from the Uefa Champions League but I wouldn't be too hopeful if I was a Newcastle supporter. If they do indeed start losing players, I wouldn't expect to see them back in the EPL anytime soon.
