OFFICIAL Android thread

I'm interested in getting an HTC Hero, but one thing that worries me is GPS - I'd like an app like Garmin or TomTom... ANyone got GPS with voice guidance running on their Android (specifically the Hero)?

I have a 6110 Nav at the moment, and love the GPS - not very fancy, but very practical and easy to use.
 
running ndrive.... ive owned garmin and tomtom devices and i think ndrive is AWESOME.

It depends, there is two hardware versions of the magic. We luckily have the better version which is identical to the Hero's hardware accept for the different camera and audio port.

HTC had a press release earlier this week where they said the Sense UI is coming to the magic in november. I would guess this rom is the one vodacom will use to upgrade us to Donut as well.
 
just passed my magic on to my gf, and i scored a hero

O M F , no other words to describe this phone necessary
 
as in how hard did i have to work to make the money? or how did i manage to give a nice phone to my gf? ;)
 
only thing that i am having trouble with on my HTC Hero is with the SMS menu.
I can't for the life of me seem to seperate "Sent items" from "Received Items" (or draft items etc)
It all appears on the same screen. At the top it says "All messages"

Lord knows i've tried to figure it out... Any help anyone>?
 
I have the same problem, I do not like the way Android treats SMS's as im conversations. I want a app where I can sort my messages with labels or into folders.
 
which is the best facebook app? the "official" facebook android app has no inbox.... im testing some of the other ones at the moment

Really don't like the official FB app, it redirects you to facebook via the browser... dumb! It should be like the facebook app for iPhone, that one is awesome.

From what i have read babbler for android is a native app that runs all or most of the facebook options inside the app without redirecting you. Problem is that the lite (free) version isn't much better that the official app and we can't get the paid app that has all the features...

hey guys. hopefully this is one of my last psts from my xperia but i need some answers?

where is the hero available from? all vodashops dont have stock here in pta and are unsure of date of release. also, what color is available thru vodacom... please say its the white one?

finally, there's latsa talk of an october release for donut... what do u guys think? and how soon will vodacom or leaf release donut to us, if at all. i hear vodacom is slow on firware updates, eg. the n 97.
and has anyone uppdated their htc firmware to latest version? any comments on new features there? ps thats the htc firmware update and not the android update... they're different...
