OFFICIAL Android thread

hey Pyro, i wanna do they Cyanogen firmware flash.

is it pretty safe? you rate it quite easy? i used to flash ROMS to my x1 so i dont think im too much a dummy :)

I found it extremely easy to do, and I'm not exactly experienced with these things.

Once the phone is rooted, it's childs play.

You can also update the boot rom to make it even easier, and handle all updates with the CM Updater.

There's a pretty desciptive thread on XDA somewhere that describes everything you need to do after you phone has been rooted.

I'm a bit dissapointed in Google though, I just found out they sent a Cease-and-Desist to the Cyanogen Dev. Still looking for details, but their 'excuse' seems to be that he includes GMail, Google maps and YouTube apps in his ROM.

Idiots! All those are free apps, and his ROM is intended for Google Experience devices anyway!

woooot im gonna give it a bash on sunday....

prob getting too much traffic. been on and off since yesterday

Guys, do any of you know whether there is a proper GPS navigation program available for SA on android?

App is still an RC?

ok errrr.. didn't quite buy it. got it off one of the app forums. If there is nobody against that sort of thing I will post the link here later :-)

Oh and my phone is not rooted. The app installs and runs like a dream !

no need to post.... just googled it

but i cant see my darn SD card :(

I also installed Ndrive on my Dream. Works very well. The maps and POI's are detailed, and the apllication is on par with the rest of the pack, if not better than some of them. (I've used Garmin, Tomtom, Route 66, Handymap and Diginav on other phones)

ok i was a knobchop. i wasnt mounting the usb properly in the notification tab hehehe. helps to read the instructions.

ok got ndrive installed :) N I C E
