Official Black Ops Discussion Thread

Too be honest, I am getting concerned with BF3. The Battlefield games were never about single-player, the single-player was you running with bots. Bad Company was something entirely different, it was not a true Battlefield title.
Once again it seems that the game will be watered down to suit the ex-Counter-Strike/COD4 now Bad Company 2 players, with the emphasis on infantry action. We are suppose to be happy with the announcement of 64 player maps and aircraft, but those were suppose to be included without the need to mention it. Now there are rumors the Commander function was taken away.

Battlefield 2 was hectic and also like no other game. It accommodated so many different types of game play in a single map. You wanna be a pilot, have fun with the jets and helicopters. You like to sneak around, avoid action but complete the objectives, you play Battlefield. Ducking approaching tanks, or hiding from one praying the commander won't spot you.

I truly hope I am wrong though. Maybe they are saving the best for last, and will blow our minds with a proper multi-player video.

How does one get BFBC3 to the main topic in the "Official Black Ops Discussion thead"?

all the servers have the map pack... But some don't put it into the rotation, so play on a server till you get kicked off the server due to new maps, then play on another...

Afaik 32B server in cpt still has only the old maps on rotation

You can filter out the map packs so it only shows the servers with the standard maps.

I've been lucky most of the servers I play on didn't upgrade, but I'm with telkom so I play on international servers.

You should get a few GB's prepaid from afrihost to play on local servers. Or if you lucky get their free GB per month promo.

The prepaid packages do you only get one month before they expire, and roughly how much do they cost.

R29 a month and they last a year I think, like I said if you sign up for their free gb promo you get a gig a month for life for free.

+1 and they have some promos as well, IIRC, in the middle of the month, you get 2GB for the price of 1GB @ R29. ;)

Back to Blops...

Has anyone heard of a "Escalation" DLC coming in May?

That's the first I have heard about it... But if it is another $15, I'm not sure... They must fix the fps drops etc first... Not everyone can afford an i7 and a gtx 590 or radeon 6990... I would like to see how a 'recommended' pc would run on this game... I'm sure that would be interesting... Anyone's pc just match the recommended specs?

I had a "recommended" spec PC before my upgrade and you can ask Slayer how the game ran... I upgraded my GPU from 8800GT to GTX460 and the difference was negligible. Only once I went Sandy Bridge did the game start to run smoothly.

The game stuttered and spluttered all over the place. I am surprised my K/D was not much worse!

And they did not ad it to the current map pack.....?
I think that will not fair well with the paying crowd.

I for one will think twice before buying another map pack one month after the official one was released.

OK, so its almost official

Slated to arrive on May 3rd with 5 new maps
As we told you about the other day, we now have confirmation that the second map pack for Call of Duty Black Ops has been confirmed. It will be called “Escalation” (or Content Pack 2) and will be a map pack containing five new maps for players to enjoy.

The maps are said to be called Zoo, Hotel, Convoy, Stockpile, and the Survive which is a new Zombie co-op map offering. Of course it will arrive first on Xbox Live for an exclusive period and then later be available to PlayStation 3 and PC owners.

Sources tell is that once again the five map package will command a $15 price tag, just like last time. Also the official announcement is due toward the end of the month when it is expected that Activision will also confirm Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 as well.

Maps, Hanoi en Havana.

As hulle dit nie kan maak nie, laat weet maar... Ons moet ook n bietjie speel...

Public's are good for fun, but I find they don't really don't really improve your skills, well not the way clannies do... :)
