btw, just ctrl + alt + del, set your steam.exe to low priority and blackops to high priority, for some it fixes the lag issues, for some not.

Hey guys, was hoping one of you could help me...
Installed the game earlier, no problems, updated it with steam.

When I try get into the game (MP) it goes to the menu, and won't let me do anything, it has the cursor there which I can move around, but it has the windows cursor ontop of it (the waiting cursor)
If I go to task manager it shows the codMP is not responding, and my CPU usage is 100%!!

I've updated my gfx drivers hoping that would be the problem, but didnt help.
I have the same problem in Single Player.

My specs are:

Q6600 quadcore 2.4ghz
4GB Ram
Windows 7 Ultimate

I've tried updating gfx drivers, tried setting steam priority to low and codMP to high, even tried that config fix in another thread here. Nothing helped

Please help guys

After all that it doesnt work
pre load unlocked it defragged the game, installed it then did the first install of direct x and nothing, but a suddenly very sluggish machine had to restart,i tried launching from the folder and it says D3DX9_40.dll is missing so i manually put D3DX9_40.dll into the steam/steamapps/common/blackops, and if i try launch from the folder it says it is missing, any help would be great - running win7 64bit
edit fixed - it then wanted d3dx9_43(downloaded and installed manually) which had to be placed in the steamapps/common/callofdutyblackops

I ordered from Kalahari, got 2x copies ...YES 2x (i only ordered 1x) and i cannot even play now (sitting in the car repackaged for the courier & no never open the game plastic) but i ain't p!ssed or anything , however if one of you didn't receive your game , just know i am speaking with Kalahari to resolve this ASAP

I placed an order for this game and some other stuff but my name was on both boxes that arrived and funny thing, 2x invoices where made to this person however after speaking with a lady @ Kalahari , that person only ordered 1x and their parcel was not dispatched lol.

In anycase i am working hard to solve this thing.

Atleast we know the local servers are up now wohooo

Wow, its awesome. The maps are really nice. How are the pings for you guys? I noticed lots of people with bad pings, and lots of talk about their ISP's possibly not peering with MWEB. I'm on Mweb uncapped and I'm getting 30-60ms constantly. But the lag still affects me when there are lots of ppl on +300ms. Hopefully this will push ISP's to peer quicker. If you're experiencing high latency, maybe call your ISP, ask them if they are peering with MWEB, and tell them that you're gonna have to move to MWEB unless they peer?

Guys remember to install the DirectX update that is on the Black Ops DVD. My MP works fine now, just the SP is still a mess.

got it to work but with no sound, multiplayer was laggy , gfx looked quite jagged

Game is unplayable for me, such a ballsup. I love how they close the callofduty.com forums on release for "maintenance" . Gotta keep the sales up.

It's the other way around. Mweb, by choice, are no longer peering with SAIX.

Mine has gone completely ape-shyte on me.
Whenever I search for servers, I only get 2 SA clan servers and 1 german server............. that's it, nothing more, nothing less.
Very odd seeing that it was working relatively fine earlier.

Such an anti-climax.
At least my lag seems to have settled down a bit, now just to get a server play on.
