Official Black Ops Discussion Thread

I hope this game dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so we all can go back to Modern Warfare 2 :) even with Iwnet, its still better than this piece of S###
 
Has anyone setup reserved slots on a server? I see on gameservers webpage you have to upload a txt file? what information goes in it?

Edit: Nevermind. I Figured it out.

i have actually gone back to reach and mw2 already, play a little tdm on black ops sometime though, mw2 is just a better game for me.... trayarch went too far to "balance" this game, the challenge and fun factor is gone.... i love the over the top frantic action in mw2, commando runners, noobtubing/pro-piping across the map, quick-scoping and sending up harrier after harrier after chopper gunner made for alot of frustration but also a lot of fun most of the time.... in mw2 i needed every single custom slot i had (and more), there were so many configurations and distinct classes to be made but in boring ops everyone just runs around with a famas or a ak74, dont even need more than 2 or 3 slots, maps also suck balls.
 
i havent played for two weeks and wont play again, i enjoyed playing the SP, the multiplayer is unbelievably boring, same old different title, this marked the end of fps gaming for me, i personally dont find it entertaining anymore.
 
Here is an issue I have found lately ... which seriously peevs me off.

I finish a map, and get promoted, unlock a new weapon. I go to my profile, and setup a new class, purchase the weapon, equip it and everything. Go back in game, my new class is not there and I am back at my previous rank??? WTF. this has happened to me at least 3 times now!!!

I had almost a similar thing and have noticed than when setting up classes and you have a lot of COD currency, don't buy everything. Just buy the stuff you want for that class. I am not in the mood to go and search for where I can complain about this...

This was an issue last week with steam also.
After restarting steam about 5 times it got solved.
I guess it was a problem with the communication between the server and where your settings were stored.


On a nother note is there anything in the pipeline for next year?

Perhaps that's why I get pwned so often :D
I use a mix between the M14, Galil and FN FAL. Also have a slot for the Aug (<-- Sadly wasted) and the FAMAS.

My largest annoyance with this game is the freezing. I mean like game hangs... End Task and lose everything achieved to that point in the map. \o/

I have had a few of those. Not to many, but my Wife has like 3 a day, at least...

Same. :( a Friend of mine was here the other day with his pc and played on my connection and he didn't get it once. Maybe I should copy his steamapps folder and see if that works.
 
You know what?

This game is a glitch. However, when it works, its awesome! Really completely awesome. The knifing is still an issue, as is the hipfire accuracy... I get mowed down by noobs who don't even know what ads means, that is really frustrating.

But when I have my lagometer showing these days there is very little spiking in the latency, I get a solid 25ms in ct on mweb and a solid 50ms in jhb servers. There is occasionally a lag spike when running into an enemy, but here I noticed that I get that spike when the enemy has a high ping, usually over 100. Anyone else noticed that? My best was the other day I got a 18ms ping to a capetown server. How awesome is that :D

I get that as well when playing on CPT servers, but I am guessing that is also to do with Iburst, as I get about 60ms on JHB servers and 80ms+ on CPT servers. But yeah, I definitely notice a lot of lag when there are 4+ guys playing with Telkom BW. N00bs. :p
 
There is a way to stop people with High pings from connecting to a server. I have not investigated it properly yet, as I feel sorry for those players Using ISP's not peering with mweb.... I get about 50- 80ms ping to CPT (from Durbs) and 30 - 60ms to JHB...
 
I say ban high pings!!! R80 is not a lot for 3gb bw with mweb, this is ofcourse for the telkom as an isp. Sorry for you guys on 3g/wireless... Maybe get an xbox/ps3 and play p2p..

VIVA!!!

Crack down on high pings.

I get around 70 to CPT and 50-60 JHB
 
Everyones pings fluctuate when they are dead and spectating..... So even if we setup our server to ban anyone with a 120ms+ ping, what would it do to those with good pings that shoot up in spectator mode?!?

BTW I am with MWEB and also see spikes in spectator mode....
