Team for tomorrow:

Cech
Bos, Alex, Ivanovic, Zhirkov
Ramires, Mikel, Malouda
Anelka, Drogba, Kalou

--

Too attacking imo, we'll be playing either with four forwards, or Malouda won't do well in his more reserved role. Oh well, we'll see it in all in good time.

I thought Alex was injured. Is he back then?

Nevermind just saw the article. It seems they are delaying his surgery. So Carlo has confirmed he will start.

AFAIK he will. There also seems to be a chance of Micheal Mancienne coming back in January despite his year loan agreement with Wolves. Though how they will manage that is completely beyond me...

Mancienne could be a good stop gap.

Still feel we need another top class center back to help out.

Things are going to be tough here. Chelsea have a long run of tough games coming up. We better shape up fast!

Such as? If Bruma gets some action now and shows himself to be worthy of the attention so liberally showered upon him recently, then next year we will have 4 solid centre backs (assuming Alex and Terry are both fit). IF not... then who to buy??? The only thing I hope is that Rajovic gets his Dutch citizenship (as he's there for his fourth year already...) I mean he's big (1.94m), has a bit of pace, quite technical and reads the game well. He's already won two championships with PSV and FC Twente and is now Captain of Vitesse Arnhem (or as I like to call it - the School of Hard Knocks). He's playing week in week out and getting rave reviews (as is Matic) so next year should be a really good one for squad depth at Chelsea. Also lower average age ;)

Crisis mode as far as I am concerned.

This is getting totally ridicolous.

The team is playing like a bunch of useless schoolboys.

I hope Chelsea aren't doing a Liverpool :(
It's like they don't want to win anything with the way things are going on there.

Oh for goodness sakes people.

So we lost, big deal. It's not like we're mid table or in the relegation zone. I knew this year would be tough unless we blooded some youngsters ad the sacking of Ray Wilkins hasn;t helped either. Man up, it's just a phase - and to remind you... we went through it last year as well. Personally, I'm happy that we stopped being so lethargic in front of goal - if not for some liberal doses of bad luck and Foster smuggling some Druid Getafix's magic potion we would have won and comfortably at that. Honestly, crisis mode? We're still top of the log iinm, I'd hardly call that crisis mode.

I think that you could say that if this was an isolated game that chelsea lost, but their run of form recently has been terrible.

Aren't Man U top now?
We gotta score though, we had so many opportunities!
Hopefully we get through this soon!

I did say it's a rough patch <<< notice the word patch. Of course there are problems, and they damn well need to be fixed, but some of the comments are frankly ludicrous (both here and on other sites, particularly other sites but I can only vent here;)). Anyway, I'm just sick of seeing panic everywhere after a few bad results (and they were terrible results to be sure). Damn... it's like most people don;t remember the days of Gullit, Vialli and Ranieri. Anyhoo, I'm sure that things will turn around - I mean we have the players for it, and if there really is trouble in the defence (I mean Terry and Alex are deffo out for long term) then it will be rectified in January.

No, we're still top thanks to goal difference. I'm just happy that we are starting to look alive again. I saw the warning signs in the three or four matches before we went to Liverpool. We were lethargic and took too much time on the ball. We got lazy. Hopefully that's all done and dusted and we can start playing properly again. Anyway, you gotta look at it holistically...

Terry isn;t gonna be around forever and it seems that Drogba as captain isn't working. So two things come out of that.

1. This gives other players a chance to play together and form an understanding.
2. We give the really young players the armband for some of the less important matches (ECL and FA Cup).

What? You mean make some youngsters captain!? for ECL? how is CL less important?

We have two games that aren't important coming up. I really don't see how they are a priority above the league... or maybe I'm missing something?

So... McEachran and Van Aanholt definitely deserve more game time, they were awesome. Sturridge should be starting more often now with all these injuries. Bruma has some way to go before he can command a place on the subs bench - a definite keeper but he needs to sort out his chinks. Needs to be sent on loan at a premiership club in need of defenders. Overall, good game, could have been better but nice to see the young lads doing so well. We need that kind of pressure and intensity from the first minute not when we concede though...
