A little bit of respect in the CHAMPIONS' thread if you don't mind. If you want to get petty, I'm sure there are enough Birmingham fans waiting for your vitriol.

Sorry for a moment there I thought Chelsea had been knocked out of the FA Cup and out of the top 4 of the league. The two competitions they were CHAMPIONS in.

Anywho, all teams go through ***** spells. Backing you guys for a win tonight.

Could of said it better myself Tarantula. This is Torres's night to shine. I think he has a fetish for Vidic.

Prediction for tonight - Chelsea 2 - Man U 1

Iirc, he hasn't scored against United in a while. Vidic kept him quiet last couple of games. This supposed fear Vidic has for Torres is BS imo.

Think this is what they are refering to.

3-Fenando Torres has scored 3 goals in his last four EPL games against United. Danger.

Guess we will see tonight and correct me if I am wrong. But Torres hasn't played in a lot of Utd/Pool games and in most them that he had played he has scored.

OK, here are the facts.

The two are well acquainted with each other from Torres's time with Liverpool.

Over the years, Torres has gotten the best Vidic, but the tide appears to have shifted recently.

In the first Liverpool-Manchester United meeting last season, the Spaniard scored the first goal of the match at Anfield, in a 2-0 victory.

At one point in that match, Vidic barged in the back of Torres. Later, Vidic brought down Torres and picked up a yellow card in the process. He later brought down Dirk Kuyt and was sent off in the 90th minute.

It was the third straight ejection for Vidic against Liverpool, and his frustration was in clear view.

When Liverpool visited Old Trafford later in the season, Torres struck again. This time, it took him only five minutes. Vidic appeared to be outmatched once more, but at least this time, Manchester United got the win and the defender wasn't red carded.

In two matches against Liverpool, Torres has failed to score, and the 29-year-old defender has stood his ground while avoiding a yellow card in both matches.

1. Just pointing it out.

2. You'd love that. So would I, but the Mancs will take the title whether they win or lose both matches against Chelsea this season.

Unlikely as then it means anyone can beat them! I jest. in all likelihood you are right, but it will add some spice to the closing stages of the season and keep spurs out of the champions league spots.

Well done lads.

Not without controversy, but the better team on the night won.

Luiz is a superstar, needs a bit of maturing, but he is a superstar!

I went into the game wanting Utd to win. As a Pool supporter I'm thinking if Chelsea took a knock it would mean that we had the opportunity to creep a bit closer to the Champions League spot.

Anyways so the game starts and Chelsea is brilliant. I haven't seen Torres so fired up in a long time and **** what a game it turned for him. David Luiz is my man of the match and I think Chelsea deserved the win. ;)

What was funny though, even though my head was telling me I want UTD to win, my heart couldn't celebrate the Rooney goal, infact I felt dissapointed. The more Chelsea grinded out good possession and play, the more I started to enjoy the game:wtf:. The strike from Luiz found me jumping off my couch in celebration and as the night progressed I was really hoping Torres would find space in the box on the left and send a cracker bulleting into the back of VDS's goal. Alas it was not to be.

So verdict: even though I wanted the gap to remain between 6 and 5 on the table I find myself satisfied today with the Chelsea win. Guess as a Liverpool supporter, no matter what the circumstances, there is still nothing more enjoyable to watch than to see utd on the wrong end of the points.

Well done Chelsea and I pray that at Anfield, we give Arsenal the opportunity to top the table. :D
