I went into the game wanting Utd to win. As a Pool supporter I'm thinking if Chelsea took a knock it would mean that we had the opportunity to creep a bit closer to the Champions League spot.

Anyways so the game starts and Chelsea is brilliant. I haven't seen Torres so fired up in a long time and **** what a game it turned for him. David Luiz is my man of the match and I think Chelsea deserved the win. ;)

What was funny though, even though my head was telling me I want UTD to win, my heart couldn't celebrate the Rooney goal, infact I felt dissapointed. The more Chelsea grinded out good possession and play, the more I started to enjoy the game:wtf:. The strike from Luiz found me jumping off my couch in celebration and as the night progressed I was really hoping Torres would find space in the box on the left and send a cracker bulleting into the back of VDS's goal. Alas it was not to be.

So verdict: even though I wanted the gap to remain between 6 and 5 on the table I find myself satisfied today with the Chelsea win. Guess as a Liverpool supporter, no matter what the circumstances, there is still nothing more enjoyable to watch than to see utd on the wrong end of the points.

Well done Chelsea and I pray that at Anfield, we give Arsenal the opportunity to top the table. :D

Like reading my mind. Felt exactly the same, I think Torres made a huge improvement on his performance. Pity he couldn't score, but must say the defenders kept him at bay.

A friend of mine said it best. The January transfer of which little hype was made of, gave Chelsea the win. Go David Luiz !!!

United have Webb. Chelsea have Atkinson :p

I just hope after last night Wenger wakes up and signs a ref in the summer transfer window. I mean seriously a club claiming to be challenging for trophies playing without a ref in there squad is just ridiculous. :p

I believe their are rumours that after last night's game Webb could be up for grabs as utd seek to sign an even higher profiled Ref. Kenny Dalglish, here's our chance now and we best beat Wenger to it....lol

Let his stay up where he belongs and try nick a goal.

I must say that Torres has become more of a ball player. His dropping deep or going wide to get some ball and his passing has improved. Haven't really seen him play the passing ball quite as well during his employ at pool. His first touch still needs work though.

BUT, from what I saw Chelsea not really keen on passing the ball to him. Yes although Lampard scored a beauty of a second goal and chelsea's 3rd, he could have given Torres the confidence he needed by slipping him the ball so he can tap it in for goal. Torres needs that break, and although he improved his game by far, he still needs to find goal scoring confidence.

Besides that - there were also other instances where the ball could have been played for Torres, but the Chelsea team just simply turn the other direction then release. There was a spell where Torres went without touching the ball for a good 5-10 minutes, while the ball was in the Blackpool half for more than that duration.

Yes that seems to be the case - there were numerous times when they could've played Torres through but chose the other option! I'm hoping that its just taking time for them to adjust to having him in the team. I'm sure they would've been intimidated by Chelsea paying 50 million for him and probably even threatened. Torres was seen as the quick fix to our early season struggles and it seemed like he was brought in to solve the problems the current guys couldn't, so obv they might not take an immediate shining to him. However equally I'm sure that that will all fade away once he scores the important winning goal in a tight match! Nothing cements team spirit and acceptance like goals and esp winning goals!

Anyway we played an average game last night. At times we had confidence and could control the play but there were also times when we just fell asleep on the pitch and where a bit too sluggish. Still its good that we're back to scoring goals - you know things are back on track when you play an average game and still manage to win with 3 goals! Lets hope we can kick on and beat city to snatch that 3rd place back! Here's to a late chelsea revival for the title..
