LUKAKU DEAL AGREED

An agreement has been reached with Anderlecht for the transfer to Chelsea of striker Romelu Lukaku.
The move is now subject to the player passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
Speaking after the win against Rangers, Andre Villas-Boas said:
'He [Lukaku] is a very interesting young prospect and we have to be able to position ourselves to be able to get this kind of talent.'
The son of a former Belgian professional, Roger, 18-year-old Lukaku was born in Antwerp in May 1993, and joined the Lierse academy as a 10-year-old, scoring more than a goal a game in their youth team before being signed by Anderlecht at 13.
He signed a professional contract with the Constant Vanden Stock side on his 16th birthday, and wasted no time in making an impression on the first team, making his debut shortly afterwards and contributing 15 league goals in the title-winning 2009/10 season while still only 16.
Standing 6ft 4ins, Lukaku is a powerful presence with a dangerous left foot, and helped himself to 16 league goals last term, while also scoring his first international goals for Belgium. He has 10 senior caps.

A few sources claim that AVB will give Sturridge the benefit of the doubt in the beginning of the season. Apparently AVB has told Studge that he will give him a good run of games in the beginning of the season and he needs to take the opportunity by the scruff of the neck.

@poiz - I reckon Kalou will be booted. Anelka only has a year to run on his contract and is a great option to have for this year just due to his experience...
 
I prefer Kalou over Anelka, if he is prepared to be used as a super sub.

Anelka should be sold while we can get some cash 4 him.

He won't go if he has a fat salary for the rest of the year then can leave on a free.

Totally disagree. We can get money for Kalou and he is half the player Anelka is. Aelka also has more experience and when push comes to shove, I'd rather have Anelka come on as a sub than Kalou. Anelka will generally keep his head in the big situations and make the right choice and introduce something extra - Kalou will inevitably make the wrong decision. I agree that it would be great to keep him as a super-sub... but he clearly doesn't want it (judging by past comments) so why flog a dead horse?
 
2 viewpoints on this, both valid.

But with Torres, Drogba, Sturridge and Lukaku, we could potentially flog both and get a decent right winger.

Hmmm... do you really think we need a right winger when Studge is on such a high?
 
Sturridge is left footed. So is Malouda. Both more suited to the right.

Would prefer a more natural winger, along the lines of Robben or Ribery.

Not saying to get those guys, just the type of players they are.

But I suppose even the Drog could make a damn decent RW.
 
Sees a lot of people saying AVB isn't good enough and he'll fail soon and hard.
I hope he proves them wrong today and in the future.
 
Good game, Torres might not have scored but still played brilliantly, same goes for Ramires. Disappointed with the draw tho.
Nice first game for AVB, now that he knows how everything works let's hope he strengthens the squad even more!
