Can you host a normal LAN game with out the internet????

I had the same problem with Homefront, what I did was to 'restore' the game, even when it was not even installed before, atleast it 'installed' about 9GB and the other 5GB I had to download, I was so damn furious, bought the game so that I do not have to download it....

Since then I have made a shortcut to the steam.exe with the added 'install K:' where K is the cd-rom, and everything installed fine since using that shortcut.
 
Guys it easy... Uninstall and reinstall through the disc menu and hope steam isn't too busy.
 
It's still early days, but I can't help but say BLOPS just felt better. I prefer the dedicated server idea, p2p is just stupid especially if the host leaves!

The hit reg just felt better and shooting felt better in BLOPS I can't describe it, but it was like a definite thump when you were hitting the guy!

Are you sure it's lag and not just the game. When I got blops I thought I had bad lag but it turned out to be the game.

Also how did your pc run Blops?

Not the game as ive experienced games that are flawless & some with lag
 
Finally got my game delivered to me today, will install it this arvie when home along with an Ice cold beer! Tomoro I get my new sound card and Sennheiser 350's ... yay!

gfx 4/10 visually horrendous - jagged bitmap edges everywhere, about the same as return to castle wolvenstein
if they had made just a bit of effort and improved the gfx this would of been a good game, as it is its not playable every single combat situation there is a load up and a pause and im dead, silly matchmaking with the host getting peeved and then quitting, overall 5/10, black ops was way better.

Playstation 2 graphics... Will play and see if the gameplay grows on me.
 
This game sucks... Black Ops was a lot better....

Shows you what you get for inflated Hype.... fk all.

Glad I bought this on a Groupon deal, I will play it at some point, but it's not going to take my focus away from BF3.
 
Damn @ Ripy, Cube & Doob.... I thought you guys were being a bit harsh, but I have to admit, Black Ops pwns MW3 300% in graphics and realism... I was so amped for it, now bitterly disappointed :(

I was just wondering how well iburst will handle cod mw3?

I average 0.80 - 1.0 Mbps dl and 0.20 - 0.30 Mbps ul.

I know it wont be lag free, but will it be playable?
 
.....and theres no patch that can improve gfx so blockity block is what we have a month away from 2012 and the top fps shooter looks like a game from the 90s, it so blatantly obvious when you start the game ttthe first thought that came into my mind, this cant be the game!? MW3 seems very impersonal, black ops was way more connected and it felt like my soldier, when i rank up on mw3 i just click , click whatever, click click who cares, theres no connection to the player, woopee i ranked up who cares silly little emblems of bearded heads, and logos look kaaahk, fek i could of designed 800 logos in a year all original for the game, or make your own emblem maker, nope just the same bitty broken logos from before, it looks like half the game was made to view in HD and the other half is a pixellated mess, the main font, i have used for years when i saw it i could not believe that they could not be bothered to sort the spacing out on the a i think, anyway i spotted the gap that the A creates which i thought was shyte when i used the font, so i corrected the gap, they just typed out in this font, nobody looked at it after and thought does that look a little out....it is the font were using in the game....yes, but no, i find it difficult to believe that an entire production team of game designers spent a year plus on making this,Then theres the brilliant matchmaking, where faster internet wins over slower ineternet, guarenteed it will load up to a pause you will die the game wil look like a lag and thats it you start again, combat situation comes up and boom it freezes for a split second and dead, so fail on that too, dedis with no ranking is like playing tennis with ice creams for rackets....absolutely pointless and messy, every map pack and addon is doomed in SA, no one will purchase them so dont be the three fools that buy then this year, coz i was one of them last year.

We must be playing 2 different games atm as I’ve experienced some issues but not as bad as you, the visuals might not be BF like but the gameplay is awesome, for me BOPS was always won or loss on lag being the guy with the best connection won.

Here I feel I stand a chance even on my feeble 384 line I can compete without tweaking or modding the game. The reward system is nice, it feels almost like the game plays & handles like COD4. Still early days but for now I am enjoying it more than I did BOPS, granted I didn’t go into it thinking I’ll get BF visuals, perhaps that’s why I am not that fazed about them.
After playing some HC you can really see the game shine. For me it rocks but like they say "smaak verskil".

Well I bought it, and not BF3, so gonna force myself to play it. I cant stand the running pace. Its like a normal running sway on turbo, swish, swoosh... way to fast. One thing that sux is having to start in soft core, man, for a 100% hardcore player it takes some getting used to! Always have to remember strafe, strafe, and keep pumping led, he's not dead yet! But will give it some effort this weekend, I managed level 10 in my first hour (by which time I had enuff). Once you unlock the scar it becomes somewhat easier to kill...
