Everton rejects Chelsea's $47 million bid for John Stones

Everton has said no to a $47 million bid from Chelsea for talented 21-year-old defender John Stones, according to ESPNFC.

The club rejected a $40 million offer from Chelsea in July, as the Blues aim to improve their backline after securing just one point from six this league season, including a 3-0 loss at Manchester City on Sunday.

Stones, who has made four appearances for the English national team, scored one goal in 23 appearances for Everton in 2014-15.

A talented defender with plenty of room to grow, it's hard to imagine many teams rejecting such a massive bid. But Everton manager Roberto Martinez seems keen on building the squad and fighting for a European spot rather than selling.

Everton open talks with Dynamo Kiev over Andriy Yarmolenko transfer

Everton are willing to meet Andriy Yarmolenko’s 20m Euros release clause as they step up their pursuit of the Ukrainian star.

The Blues have opened talks with Dynamo Kiev over the transfer of the 25-year-old, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Everton are hoping to tie up a deal for Yarmolenko before the September 1 transfer deadline but negotiations with Dynamo are unlikely to be straightforward even if they do trigger the buy-out fee.

Ukrainian clubs are notorious for driving a hard bargain and are likely to demand a large chunk of the money up front.

Yarmolenko, who scored against Everton in the last 16 of the Europa League last season, is keen on a move to the Premier League.
