Official Google Nexus 7 Thread

Just found out my tablet wasn't picked up today by the couriers. Couriers all suck!

Bought 1 from Dino.... Should be delivered tomorrow..... Can't wait
Nexus 7 2013

Tab arrived in the office today. So far it's very nice. I haven't managed to get my wifi working for a little while though so I can't update it to 4.4.2 yet. But it's fast and smooth and light - and best of all - one-hand-read-able.

You know what they say about big hands ...

Holds tablets easier :p

If there's one thing I hate about the Nexus, it's that you have to have a wifi connection to step it up with no way of bypassing it.

So then, what is the consensus on the best place to source an LTE model of the 2013 version?

I can't get over how fast this thing is. I'm finding myself flipping between chat, tapatalk, reading, browsing and game playing and it handles it all seamlessly. Transitions between apps are practically instant. Impressed I am. Already got a buyer for the iPad 3. I will see a bit down the line if the retina iPad Mini becomes an affordable option but this is the most moreish tablet I've personally used.

First time since I've had this device it's crashed on me. Nothing out of the ordinary running - it just died. Took a 20s press on the power button to get it back again. The irony is I haven't switched it off in the 8 or so months I've had it, it's only been down for system upgrades.

I'm becoming less and less impressed with 4.4.2...

Anyone has Cerebus's contact details? I think his account may have been hacked :)

Nova Launcher is much nicer than stock launcher on 4.4.2. It has
1) Full transparencies
2) Larger icons
3) Isn't a thinly veiled portal for Google Now

Had a look at the covers at IC but cannot convince myself to pay R450 for a simple cover.

Ditto. Then I fussed over not scratching or damaging the screen while transporting it around, and went back to IC :-)
