Official HTC One thread

hmmm is everyone waiting on MTN ... im so disappointed in what they are doing with the ONE,
I really do hope they make it worth the wait or i will leave as soon as i see a worthwhile deal from
another SP.

So a bit of feedback.

I've been told that if all goes well, they are looking at end of July :wtf: So ya, there is that.

At the same time, don't take this as fact. From my undertanding, this is just the planned date. It could before that, or of course after.

So, why shouldn't we purchase the HTC One Developer Edition from the US? LTE should still work, right?

I got mine last week from Vodacom. I was with MTN and heard that only Vodacom would be getting first, i put my name down at 2 different MTN stores and at 2 different Vodashops. I got tired of waiting for the call and so i also called in on the Vodashop hotline, I did a quick over the phone contract(my MTN contact was finished 2 months before), a number port....aaand 5 days later a RAM truck showed up wth my spanking new phone.
Couldn't be happier. I cant understand why im so lucky and others are still battling. It was relatively painless with Vodacom and they have better packages than MTN. Also, not knocking them or nothing, but the MTN UI on the web and phone sucks. Vodacoms is way more user friendly.

@ripclaw. The One i have is the LTE model, so i pickup 4G in the city at times. So i guess the Dev Ed. should work...

Hows your experience with the phone?Do tell:)

Nope, i have the HTC One. Not sure what you meant by that? :wtf:

lol sorry guys ... brain fart!

i've been mulling over the idea of getting a SGS4 but have decided to only get an LTE capable ver.
and was reading over some specs as i read hankey comment about getting 4g in city.

I'm still very disappointed that MTN isn't making any kind of visible effort of making this happen.
at least MTN could send us a press release saying that they are trying to make this available to
its customers.

phoned ram after finally getting the correct waybill number. the phone is in joburg and will be delivered to my office tomorrow! This has been a hassle but at least it's almost over!

Ha ha, you are forgiven :P

Have a look over at gsmarena. There is an article comparing the two S4 devices and what their differences are. My understand is, it purely a chipset thing, and you can get LTE on both of them?

thats what i was trying to figure out ... the current model the 9500 chipset can use LTE tech
so it is just a matter of software? Or is it missing some kind of comms device on the inside,
cause if its just software getting a rom for it shouldnt be an issue at all! but yeah i'd still
much rather get the One :{ but its taking tooooooo long!!!

well just read that the 9500 will need a chip installed to use the LTE as well as new Software!

This week seems to be my week for making new contacts :D Cell C are currently trying to win some of our business. I''ve asked the lady who is working with them to try get some info bout the one if possible. I'm hoping that the fact they are wanting to win the contract will work in our favour.

Will keep you posted.
