Official HTC One thread

loving it, haven't had too much time to play with it. the double tap on home for recent apps is a bit silly, an extra button would have been nice. no scratches.

Yeah I had a review unit for a few weeks and I really felt the absence of a dedicated menu button.
Good to hear about the scratches :)

All OS related stuff will have a small menu button. All other apps and games unfortunately have a fairly large menu button running across the screen, taking up quite a bit of real-estate.
Fortunately, the amazing guys at XDA have figured out a hack to turn the logo into a menu button:
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/04/23/htc-one-logo-menu-button/

It also seems to be being addressed in the update:
http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/474737/20130605/htc-one-4-2-update-android-jelly.htm#.Ua71f0BHLHk

how do you activate menu related options then?

any other experiences that you can share?hows the feel in hand, hows that cold aluminum in the morning :)
how precise is the touch..ect ect

The aluminium doesn't actually get all that cold hey... I think it's matt finish on there.
I found the screen to be amazingly responsive. Typing on it was such a dream, it was the first time I didn't miss a hardware keyboard.

Sorry ElenEng, not to upstage you here. I just get alerts for this thread :)

I see that Cell C on twitter have been saying they will be stocking the device, and this month, just no exact date. Would be awesome if I could get it before I go overseas for a month in Aug

Autopage still don't have stock. :-(

At least the update for Android 4.2.2 for the HTC One is being rolled out (slowly) to users.

Spoke to Cell C guy on Facebook... Says they don't have stock yet and they haven't confirmed pricing either :(

FNB says:
"Sorry, I have not heard any news that we will offer the HTC1, but as soon as I know anything I will be shouting it out loud.
Have a great day.
RB Jacobs"

Yip contacted them all mtn, fnb, cell c ...eventually it was MTN that confrimed that they'll be getting the device in the next 2weeks but pricing is not yet done,so seems its vodacom(with bad deals on this device, small s) and mtn (probably anytime200 which in my opninion is a better deal) that will be offering this device in june/july ..

I'll keep wait for MTN to get it. I'm NOT getting any other phone. and it's been 7 months since my contract was due for an upgrade.

Same Ill wait for MTN I switched to a MTN month to month contract
Vodacom has stock both in Gateway and Pavillion but man that deal of theres suck's at that price you get way more Value from
MTN
If I am to pay that much must be worth it
On the other end if MTN come up with some crazy R550 a month deal (never know with those guys ) then I will just Choose another phone , im not forking out 9000 cash or willing to pay 11000 to vodacom for no benifits on the calls
I will then Settle for the S4 as plastic as it is :(

The problem with Our SP all of them is they thought the samsung was a sure bet , and choose not to stock the HTC , which now by all accounts is the Highest rated android phone all round
You would think that seeing as cellphones are there business they would have some foresight

On the line with MTN SP and the guyi hasnt heard of the HTC One. Insists that the S4 is the best phone and I should take it.

Told him to go to htc.com and he went "Eish thats beautiful"... lol

Edit: well that went well. He thanked me for educating him but couldn't put me on a pre-order list.

He said that the phone was selling for 6600 and they had a few which went last week thursday. He got that answer from his manager.

To the guys who pre-ordered: Where did you do it? What number?

Does anyone know if Vodacom will be getting stock of the black model? From what I can see they are just stocking the silver one.
