Official HTC One thread

So Nashua Mobile Vaal says they do stock the HTC One on Vodacom, but not the other operators. No problem, as I am on Vodacom Talk 120s. Upgrade price, including hardware sub is R559/month.

Do you guys think having my phone plugged into the computer throughout the day will affect the battery performance?

If the battery is almost dead in the morning it usually takes about 5 hrs to fully charge the phone so it's a slow charge via usb. If the battery is full or almost full I tend to just plug the phone in anyways throughout the day (playing music or radio simultaneously)

There's no benefit to charging by USB port. It just takes longer. Some newer devices may try to draw more power than the 500mA that's the USB spec and not charge at all. It's better, more reliable, and often faster to use a wall charger when one is available

I've heard that the HTC One doesn't have the switch toggles (wifi, silent, gps, flight mode etc) when you pull down on the notification bar like with the Samsung phones.

Is this true? and how are you guys getting around this?

Install the Quick Settings app from the Play store.

Correction, USB 1.1 is 500mA, USB 2 or 3 goes up to 2A (or more for USB3, cant remember)

Some PCs or m/boards have drivers for this

But I do agree though, it feels a bit slower...maybe becoz the current fluctuates from a USB? So probably not so good for the phone

I use the built in power toggle. Just dragged the widget onto one of my screens.

Sorry, dont really have time to read the whole thread...

Is the HTC One available on Cell C? I took a quick look on their site and I dont see it :(

Really looking for an HTC One on one of those Straight Up packages...

Power toggle widgets are built into the phone already though.

I'll see if I can upload a screenshot of the ones I set up on one of the panels (didn't have to download anything)...

I've dedicated a home screen panel to them:

Or am I missing something???

We are talking about the toggles in the notification area, which is not part of Sense. You usually find these on Samsung's Touchwiz and stock Android.
