Official HTC One thread

i know some said they cant believe i have this much patience ,well i dont anymore..Now mtn retention tells me yes the device is in stock but still the pricing problem, they put me trough to MTN direct sales, they say no there is no such device in stock! and know which phone im talking about :/ !! So Monday i'm of to vodacom..

So i'm back with some good news. Getting the HTC One via MTN ... after finally speaking to someone who knows what he is doing (Clint - Somerset Mall branch, Somerset West). Wife was shopping last Saturday and I decided to just pop into our local Mall branch. Spoke to Clint, he contact head office and warehouse, phoned me on Monday to confirm he can get me the phone. Went back Yesterday (thursday) and upgraded.

The phone is on their system (listed as HTC One M7), they seem to only have stock of the Silver one. It seems they are only doing them on request, so physically going into store or you could try phoning (which doesn't seem to work) and asking for the phone, where after you need to accept your upgrade and then they send the paperwork through so the phone can be shipped from warehouse. Also, it does seem like they really have limited stock.

anyone get a price yet ???
Pricing seems to be a tad higher than the S4, around 449pm on Anytime 200. Taking it on my current contract as I need more than what Anytime 200 offers.

Will keep you guys posted, my phone should be arriving next week. :) Also remember a sim swap is needed which I think is another R139 once off or something on MTN.

Hope this help, if there are any other question I'll try and answer for you guys.

Of to the store i go then! if i get one more excuse then Voda it is..

cant see how the htc is more expensive than the S4 as it is in the same price range :/

Well that is what the guy told me, as I just inquired about the AnyTime contract for some other people. I think it's because for MTN it's more a niche phone. Reason for them not getting major stock like Voda is apparently because of the stuff ups with the One X, where they ordered loads of phones and everyone bought S3's leaving MTN with a lot of stock and nothing to do with it.

Atleast I'm getting it. When you go to the store though, if they don't know what you are talking about, tell them to contact retention as there is some paperwork the store needs to send with your upgrade requesting the phone. ETA's are a bit wobbly when I went for mine, as apparently I'm the first person they've had who asked for One in their store, but he said it should be here next week latest.

That seems expensive. I'm Voda's Smart L deal, with 250 minutes at 499pm, MTN's Anytime 200 (rand airtime value) at R1.50/minute, that's 133 minutes. Correct me if I'm wrong. Seems pretty expensive.

I was on MTN before I upgraded my HTC Desire, on the Anytime 350 (233 minutes?). MTN seems rather expensive.

Edit: Let's not forget MTN 'upgraded' their packages to include 350mb with the Antime 350, and 200mb(?) on the Anytime 200, whilst my Smart L has 600mb of data/month.

Well was at MTN now, they'll be phoning me today..if it's R450 pm MTN, then i would say vodacom has the better deal..

IF* its 399pm then i say MTN

I signed mine at R399 p/m without the corporate discount. I am not sure why MTN is so confused about this phone..

Wonder when we are getting 4.3.....

HTC has released kernel sources for Android 4.3 on the One Google Play Edition, meaning they have at minimum begun kernel work, another 3/4 months for official sense roms, Google Play roms in the next few weeks. :p

The smart L deal is 499 for the subscription only. It is still another 150p/m for the handset:

See here:
On Smart L (Price plan details)

Handset: R150 PM X24 Subscription: R499 PM X24

Monthly Subscription R 499
Inclusive Minutes 250
Inclusive Data 500MB
Inclusive SMS 500

I am on the smart M deal

On Smart M (Price plan details)

Handset: R200 PM X24 Subscription: R299 PM X24

Monthly Subscription R 299
Inclusive Minutes 120
Inclusive Data 300MB
Inclusive SMS 300

MTN's anytime 200 is about 86 minutes a month and the anytime 350 is roughly 126 minutes a month...

Thanks! :)

Seriously, try and drain the battery 'til the phone dies, then wall charge and report back. My battery life is much better now after the upgrade.

This tip worked for me, thanks.

Has anyone bought the HTC Car Kit to go with this phone? If so, can you please post your impressions?
