Official HTC One thread

YOU DO NOT NEED S-OFF TO FLASH A CUSTOM ROM! Just go to the xda and see the links for the HTC One, I rooted and unlocked bootloader months ago and have flashed many ROMs but I only got S-OFF last week, and I only did it to get a nice custom hboot screen.

As long as the update zip file is for HTC_016 (Our SA HTC One) you don't need s-off to flash it, it's only if you want to flash update zip from a non HTC_016 HTC One that you'll need s-off. But since our HTC One is part of the International group (World Wide English) the HTC_016 is covered by the update zips. Just unlock bootloader, install recovery and flash your custom ROM zip and enjoy.

Greetings All!

I am trying to S Off my One because I want to get rid of the HBOOT screen Tempered banner. My friend in the US has an HTC Java card and I was talking to him about S Off and he convinced me to try it out. My One is on HBOOT 1.44.000 and as usual is the HTC_016 version.

I tried to use Revone, Moonshine and RumRunner. Non of them worked. I tried to flash the 4.1.2 RUU from Guru Reset and that failed. Anyone have any idea? Fastboot and ADB are working just fine.

Thanks.

Oky,advice and teaching time :p

So i'm tired waiting on SA getting 4.3..

i have never flashed my devices before so call me noob on this! ..

i want the HTC 4.3 original rom released world wide, but need you guys that have done it to assist me step by step what to do and how to do it!

PLUS! can i re install the original rom if i need to send it in for repairs ?

Thanks!

Yip you can relock and install stock ROM if you need to send it in. First step is to unlock bootloader the flash recovery, both together will take 10 min or less. Just Google unlock HTC One bootloader xda, and you'll see, then download a custom ROM, I would recommend OrDroid, and flash it.

i found something today :)

Let me know how you get on. I'm getting more and more curious on how to go about putting on new ROMS and things like that. But to be totally honest, I got no idea where to start!

I'll be doing a bit of youtubing when get home, but still super nervous to try this out.

XDA Developer forums should be the only place you take info from! Trust me.... Find the forum for your specific decide and just start reading how to guides. I would suggest start with CyanogenMod, their step by step tutorials are dummy proof and they even have a desktop app for your PC now to make the process even simpler

Yip xda HTC One forums are brilliant, everything I did to my One I got from there.

Cheers. Will spend a little bit of time going through it all. I'm sure the process is pretty easy, but still rather nervous to make changes like that to my baby :P There are some seriously nice themes there tho. I think the one is called Viper which looks pretty awesome.

Always the same crap with Vodacom and updates, they delay for no reason. There's no bugs holding them back, HTC isn't holding them back, they just think they need three months to test a rom. Bunch of idiots. Luckily I'll hold off on flashing my one as my Nexus 5 will be here in December to keep me busy :-P

Successfully got S OFF, flashed 4.3 GPU RUU and wrote superCID. I can now get OTA updates directly from Google.
Cheers

I'm getting my HTC One on the 1st of December. I will give HTC Sense a chance for about a month then if I still hate it then ill just flash the Google Play HTC One ROM.

Sense 5+ is fantastic; not really comparable to earlier iterations. By far the best OEM overlay on Android, and arguably better than vanilla.

I doubt you will hate it. The new sense is very sleek, and I still dig it after so many months. I'm just in the mood to play around a little and see if I can get even more out of this phone.

Have to agree, sense 5.5 is really great, I haven't used it on earlier versions but the latest is rather nice.
