Wonderful game. Wonderful entertainment. Thanks to everyone who brought us here, and who brought the game to us. Thanks, Proteas - not your night, but you stayed in there and battled down to the last over. And well played NZ. We gave you a good run on your home turf. Next time!

Thanks for that drop Farhaan. Even when you're not in the team, we can count on you to fsck it up...

Did you even SEE the drop catch? How the hell are you meant to catch a ball when you're being side swiped by a diving JP Duminy?

Mind boggles

Yup. i think we could post at least 360+ runs if they did not lose any overs

Definitely no choking, I actually gave the game to New Zealand once it started raining it was obvious they were saved by the rain just when the momentum shifted South Africa's way and we were looking to do damage. For any doubters SA were scoring at 13 per over before and after the rain so we would have been at about 372 which would just have been too much for NZ to chase down.

But yeah our boys did well to pull it so close at the end.Batting display was superb.

The best teams take the opportunities that come their way...we gave NZ too many chances with our bowling and fielding and they took the game away from us.

It was enough runs (rain wasn't the deciding factor) - we just weren't as good in the field as in in the QF. End of story.

Grant Elliott is actually an ex South African. He a traitor, LOL

To quote:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/1395587

Former New Zealand test skipper Ken Rutherford was captain of Gauteng in the mid-1990s when Elliott was signed up as a future star, only for the quota system to block his path. Rutherford recommended a switch to New Zealand, but then Canterbury didn't rate him and Wellington played him as a bowler.

He was alienated.

Great game, all round. This is what you want from knockout cricket.

No choking, either. Beaten fairly by the better team on the day.

Proteas can be proud of their CWC campaign.

Yep, check the replay. The ball went through his hands before JP even got there...

What a sad end to a great game.
Pity we didn't quite come to the party on all fronts.

I was so hoping we'd win but the pressure clearly got to us.
A few too many missed chances and some lack luster bowling.
