Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

McLaren is still injured. Sorry, don't rate Wiese - would then rather go for Albie.
McLaren was getting a consistent hiding when he got dropped. Albie has always fetched and been hit or miss with the bat so was dropped to and was staring at retirement prematurely. Wiese's bowling not good enough.

Best bowling allrounder in my view is Frylinck. But age is not on his side.

In this day and age, I don't think you need a bowling allrounder at number 7. You need a batting allrounder.

Frontline bowlers fetch heavily these days whether it's Mitch or Steyn, so you need someone with balance between bat &ball, hence the Farhaan selction. But he didn't bowl well and we haven't seen what he can do with the bat yet really in this CWC.

India's fielding has grown leaps and bounds over the years. They're active and buzzing in that circle. Nice to see considering the old lazy days. I found them revolting and disrespectful to the game.

Anyone remember the donkey comment from that former English captain of their heritage?

Yadav is also bowling really well. Our batsmen are struggling to time the ball off him.

I said it when we played Zim. We are seriously off the pace this world cup.

AB bowled Parnell in the 18th over.

Dhoni saw that Yadav would be targeted if he comes in first change as usual, say 9th over, with no wickets down, so he opened the bowling with him.

Different class in captains is the key.

It's a bit of a stretch to say ZIM. This was obvious when WI were here. Things were just too easy.

I'm not just talking about Parnell here. None of our bowlers looked as good as these two Indian bowlers.

I'm also waiting for all the blind Proteas supporters to talk about how this is a completely different pitch to the one the Proteas bowled on.

Also why are all our bowlers bowling with a crossed seam these days? All the good fast bowlers on other teams still use the traditional straight seam delivery.

More the quality of the bowling...India also batted slowly at the start.

Also, why the need to be antagonistic...who pee'd in your cereal?

As opposed the centuries they might have scored coming in at the 45th over?

Dhoni did enough damage before his wicket was taken so not considered a positive.
Boet we should've been chasing 350+.

As it is 300 is gettable. We've messed up the order though. QdK should've come in lower.

Another lightning start by Fek duplessis.

Block like he's doing the Test match thing.
Persoanally I wanted Faf to bat cautiously, but not too cautiously. But remember the last tim ehe batted like this SA beat AUS in ZIM. Was a weakened attacked but definitely better than this Indian attack man for man.

Except of course two of these Indian seamers are operating like Wasim&Waqar today. :D

Now the batsmen have to target the spinners. Any chance of 5+ rpo against them?

JP&Miller will have to be "heroes" again today it seems.

If someone on the Indian team doesn't do a Parnell for them, we're going to have to play extremely well to get out of this. The bowling has been excellent so far.

Faf at 3 creates pressure on our batting. Why does he have to always start so slow?
5 off 18 he can change that in a couple of balls. i wouldn;t be worried too much right now, 40 more over to play.

The less AB,Miller & JP have to go crazy after a solid foundation the better.

The Proteas took a dump on my toast. :)

Sorry. A bit grumpy, especially because so many people seem to come up with excuses and not accept that the Proteas one day side is in serious trouble. Before we can fix the side people need to admit that we have a problem. The reaction after we struggled against Zim was pretty much to ignore how poorly we played.

Ummmm... That's his last over. The damage was done long before then.

His first over:

17.6 Parnell to Dhawan, FOUR, short, a bit of width, and Dhawan crashes it away to the boundary to the right of third man, who didn't have too far to move but had no chance of stopping it. Fifty up for Dhawan, superb innings this has been

His fourth over:

23.1 Parnell to Dhawan, FOUR, short ball, angling into off stump. Dhawan plays the most effortless ramp shot of all time, simply leans away and puts it away over the keeper
23.2 Parnell to Dhawan, FOUR, length ball outside off and Dhawan pummels that down the ground, flailing his bat through a big circle to smash that between the bowler and mid-off

In between he had a couple of decent overs. I don't see people targeting him. That's just poor bowling. He seemed to go to pieces after the poor noball call.
