Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

Why is everyone having a laff at the English when our own numpties are goofing off over there?

@thestaggy, I agree with you here (my Chrome browser won't let me reply with quote )

Listening to the post match interview by AB, sounded like there was something wrong in the team. Not good.

Yes. And the way we are playing we'll play one more match than them.

As opposed to destroying every team in the pool matches and then being knocked out in the quarters or semis?
Personally I'd rather we got these losses out of the way so that we can do well in the important matches.

We're already in the quarters.

And we're gonna finish second in our group, not fifth.

Seriously, update yourself.

EDIT: So at least we'll play in the quarters. They won't.

I know that. You reckon we're beating the Sri Lankans based on present form in the quarters? We've whipped two lightweights, had a scare against another lightweight and then proceeded to receive a right thumping from the two decent teams we have faced, one of whom we actually had no business losing against.

Nice to see the forum resembling a forum. Diverging views. :D

I wouldn't be writing off the English just yet, lads. The pair at the crease can still take the game from here.

In short, the fat lady ain't singing yet!

If we bat first then yes we should win.

Hopefully we bat last in our next game, so we can get a bit more practice before the knockouts.

Isn't that always the case in our history during his time? :D
Saw an interesting stat the other day, one which you've quoted before too. In the last 2 years we've won 24/34 batting first but only 8/21 chasing!!

So defending a total we win 70% of the time (with 1 tie) but chasing we win only 38% of the time.

It's an obscene stat and finding a coach who could fix it should be CSA's top priority!!

"It was first occasion in which we really spent time like that and it helped us get really close to the players," Jennings said. "I don't think other squads had that experience. We were a team of people together and we were going to walk on water together."

The biblical reference may seem an exaggeration to some but Jennings is the only South African coach to win a World Cup at any level, making his achievement unprecedented in these parts. Combined with his record as U-19 coach - he has only lost four matches at World Cups in eight years - his position may have been considered more secure than it is now.

"It was my job when I started coaching to turn the side around because U-19 cricket is important," he said. "In the first year I took over, 2006, we finished in 11th place and we lost to Nepal in the quarter-finals. We've gone from that to winning."

Good effort under the circumstances:

Sabbir Rahman to Buttler, FOUR, Buttler manages to get to his fifty as he hammers away this slightly short of a length through deep midwicket for four
