Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

....
I'm vindicated. The thread had the stink of something decomposing ... .......... I've been wrong?

So I smelled you over the net? Must be ur troll dropping then all along, what a stench.

Oh Yeah, you were wrong indeed, now you act confused and have to ask the question? So you now say You thought SL will win because of what the other posters commented? Thats trolling to the worst degree.

They are big chockers when it comes to semi finals ;) But personally I am hoping for one final gayle force in the quarters.

Don't count on it. He's had his big innings just recently, so I would not bet on him doing better than a false start (30 - 35 runs).

The pitches in New Zealand tend to assist bowlers more then the ones in aus. This pitch did do much tbh. Little bit of seam and little bit of spin but it was more the pressure our boys build that caused sri lanka to collapse.

What changed in the second half then? It was not just QDK was it
?

Angelo Mathews' post-match interview;

"130 was not good on this track, there were no demons in the pitch. Unfortunately we did not bat well and maybe it was the nerves. Look, this is our worst performance in the World Cup and it happened in the Quarter Final. We know the South African bowlers were good but it was just us not batting well. It is disappointing not to make it a memorable day for Mahela and Sanga, we salute them and thank them for everything. We wanted to win it for them but we couldn't do that. Anyone can win this tournament all the best to them."

So, the pitch wasn't an issue. Down to bowlers vs batsmen and their batsmen tanked. I think the bowling deserves a little more praise than he let on as all 5 bowlers were exceptional. It wasn't just 1 or 2 bowlers they battled with, all 5 of them put them under pressure.

Great job by the lads, backing them all the way. Can't wait to watch the Highlights package tonight.

Always happy to be wrong in these matters :)

:D

Not referring to you specifically, was only convenient to make a point. With SA there are always an off chance no matter against who the world.

Rejoicing as well. Hope we clear them up now as will sorely like to silence some Ozzie.

I would love WI to nail the Black Caps... Imagine the psych advantage we would have going into the semi.
But alas, my money would be on the Black Caps to beat WI by a pretty large margin.

Yeah would be epic, but can you imagine all the BS that would be spouted if by some miracle we lose that game.... sho.....

Would be awesome.... and we meet India in the final for revenge ? haha

If this had been another sub continent team we would have thought they threw the match.
Pathetic performance from SL, very disappointing.

just think, the boys, are two games away fromwinning the world cup

TWO GAMES

WI did it to us in '96 after we had cruised our group games...not out of the realm of possibility. Anyone who pitches up for the semi against us is going to have to face a team with self-belief now...that first knockout game was always going to be the key for us. Just need to execute our skills on the day and there'll be no shame in the result whichever way it goes.

As long as we bring this intensity to the last two games and don't become lazy on the back of this game.

A game against NZ or Aus will be a lot harder than this.

+1

There is no shame in losing if you've played to the best of your ability - if we lose 'cos of stupidity (ill disciplined bowling/batting) then we'll be legitimately upset.

That was a Brian Lara special.

With this monkey off our back and we can actually play with some freedom, I don't think it matters who we play. With De Cock and the bowlers hitting form I bet they are more worried than we are.

The surprising thing is this also takes the monkey off the backs of some key players,AB didn't have much of a role today besides setting decent field placings(IMO that's why we lost the India game) so we were not reliant on him and Hashim failed, yet we won convincingly without even relying on them simply because the bowling came right today.

That is a very positive sign for me as I for one was disappointed at our bowling performance until now.I even questioned Morne Morkels place in the side but with his performance in this game and the last he has shown that I was wrong, even though he didn't get many wickets he put the batsmen under immense pressure bowling to his strengths i.e into their bodies. As long as he stays aggressive he will be effective.

Well, didn't really expect Saffers to beat SL in a knockoff match in this manner. Congrats, anyway :)

You must be very relieved,I don't see you swearing and going crazy.Maybe you can put those demons from the past away now.;)

Can someone please ban this idiot

Why?He doesn't support SA (clearly) and tries to give counter productive advice for them like suggesting we drop the best spin bowler in the tournament so far aka Imy Tahir ROFLMAO!!!:D But yes that is not grounds to ban him, its a free forum and he can say what he wants to,he is even free to choke on his own words.:p

Lets rather rub it in his face,he seems pretty upset and is looking for excuses because he is distraught that SA didn't choke and performed well.;)

Being the gentleman that I am, I took it easy when PAK&IND did their thing.

Considering the OTT reaction after this SL result - in stark contrast to my behaviour, I think the cup had better cup home because only one person will have the last laugh here that's for sure. :D

I almost feel sorry for you, watching you squirm due to this convincing knock-out victory SA achieved today.Almost.:D
