Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

The strange thing is that on balance, even without Pollard, Bravo, Bravo etc they have one of the best teams. They have bloody good frontline bowlers, but when teams take to them they cannot rein in ,no plan B. Need to bowl better lines/length to specific batters

Their batting also goes right down to 9/10 with proper batsmen, but they lack discipline.

On paper one of the best teams, but the game is won on field.

That sums them up well. Their whole team - batting, bowling and fielding - have some real talent. No application whatsoever though.

If truth is still out there, this is it.

Catches need to be taken, but no one should be getting 237 even if dropped 5 times. The team that creates more chances prevails and near misses should balance out. You miss a ctach, move on create some more chances. If your game s lost on one missed chance, your problems are bigger than fielding.

SA vs NZ is going to be epic, especially with the smallish Auckland ground. NZ will come out blazing, and we know what our guys can do. A good start from us with the bat will be key. NZ is due for a loss...

Sigh...4 of the more one-sided games in the WC happen in the quarterfinals. Lame that the losing teams couldn't find the gees to put up more of a challenge.

SA is also due for a loss.

All true I agree, you have to create chances that's what cricket is all about..creating chances.
Not referring to that innings of 237 in particular but records will always be broken and when a certain top batsman is in top form on the day he's going to stand and stand and stand, knocking you around the whole fukking day. We've had countless examples of this. But when that batsman gives you a sudden once off chance at a catch in his innings, in the slips, square leg, mid off where ever, you damn well need to take it. That one missed catch on a batsman in form could cost you the game. The line between losing and winning can really be that thin.

+1 Lager.

With the influence of T20 on ODIs, one batsman putting in a devastating innings changes the complexion of the game.
for sure no doubt about that. I'm always amazed at the brilliance of these professional top international batsmen. They sometimes do make it look so damn easy. One can just smile, shake your head and appreciate brilliance in action.

Im officially scared of NZ. McCallum and Taylor on a go slow this morning and they still got to almost 400.

Boult and Southee scare the s hit out of me! I find their batting can be a bit brittle when under pressure (much like ours). Right now Boult/Southee>Steyn/Abbott.

What was the name of that NZ prick that got in Faf's face in 2011 KO match? If I remember correctly, he was 12th man that game. I would have smashed my bat into his face if I was Faf. If ever there was a cricketer I hated...

NZ played well but we did even better vs WI when we played them. Will be a tough game but I fancy our chances. The # is due a big one...
