Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

# and QdK to set a 100 platform. AB, Rilee and Miller to take us to 400. Make it so boys, this is our cup!

Im officially scared of NZ. McCallum and Taylor on a go slow this morning and they still got to almost 400.

I recall hearing that Guptill was dropped on 4...

0.3 Taylor to Guptill, no run, Samuels has dropped it. A poor start in the field by West Indies. First that non-chase and now this. This is a leg-stump half-volley. Looks like a four, but Guptill; has hit this straight and low - calf high - to Samuels at sqaure leg. He looks stunned this chance has come his way. Not awake and alert for it. Drops it

And reading this comment makes me think that it was a catch that should have been taken.

So NZ could have been 4/1. A significantly different scenario could have played out.

Proteas are superior fielding outfit. Yes, they drop the odd catch, but the majority they hold onto.

Going to be a difficult game. This NZ team is nothing like past teams. If we lose the toss we are out, otherwise it is too close to call.

24 - Semi Final 1: South Africa vs New Zealand (Auckland) - 03:00

Need to talk to the boss about a day's leave or come in late for this. I'll be unproductive until the game is done.

We had our loss already, started shaky and played ourselves into form.

LOL! That match against SL was nothing to write home about. Zero pressure. The low target run chase was a walk in the park. No pressure. That was not SL's day for sure. They could still choke as usual when trying to chase down a +250 target in a high pressure death match.

Do not worry about DarkSpectre or 3WA or whichever name he goes by, he's apparently an Aussie lover and fearful of the mighty Proteas wiping the smile off their dials in Melbourne ;)

:D

NZ will also be under huge pressure. Home semi, against our good bowling and fielding and arguably the best batting on paper whom are all on great form. Get McCullum and Williamson early and they are screwed. Guptill is not good enough against our bowling attack. If we bat positively with some caution the first few overs we should be OK.

Screw that schit, you've got an all-day meeting on that day...

And they never won a semi, in fact their knockout record is pretty close to ours...

This.
NZ are masters at choking the opposition even if they bat first and get a low score. Remember that round robin game against the Aussies?
Only way to win this is to bat firsy and post 350 plus.

I'm sweating missiles here compared to last time when it was bullets.

They've never made it past the semis either. I wouldn't hype them up as much as everyone else seems to be doing...

We're less afraid of losing now and we have the better team.

The only time NZ faced some pressure was in their Oz game and they just just scraped through.
They are a great side, but I reckon we'll roll them.

We beat NZ 2-0 in NZ just a few months ago. We should be favourites
Philander (arguably the best Test seamer to be unearthed in the last 5 years, and easily our best ODI seamer over the last few months) was the lead seamer in that tour while Steyn&Morkel played side-kicks.

Now Abbott is the lead seamer, while Steyn&Morkel are playing his side-kicks. Different circumstances!

The reality is that if Philander is fit&firing, and they want to avoid dropping Abbott, then one of Steyn/Morkel must be dropped for him because he's better than both of them right now.

Will that happen? Not in beloved South Africa! ;)

Abbott(and Steyn&Morkel) are not a Boult or Southee or even a Milner right now. The only player with the ability to rip through any side's top order is Philander.

I say stay with the same team. No point risking Philander who has been without game time for two weeks. I would have wanted him there but you cant drop Abbot now and dropping Steyn sends the wrong message. Steyn sets the tone regardless whether he takes wickets.

Those NZ bowlers were clowns a year ago. So were their batsmen barring Brendon and to a lesser extent Williamson.
