Official ICC World T20 thread

Depends on how they do vs england, if its a close victory windies just beating england will be enough and inda will be gone. I'd rather see india thru to final than windies as Windies are a very good batting unit which is on the rise. Although windies lost today, keep in mind it was a back 2 back game and a different player stood up for them. When they play next i won't be surprised if they pummel the English.

Also guys can someone please explain to me why on earth players would be tired playing 2 pro 20 games back to back?

Why can cricketers play 5 full days of cricket for instance and not get tired after the first days play?

I do not understand how super fit players could struggle after a good nights sleep. Makes no sense to me as pro 20 is short and i cannot see players over extending themselves, it is like asking pro footballer to play for 10 minutes a half and not 45 minutes and then playing again the next day, i hardly feel they would be tired considering how fit sportsmen are.

if your body is not use to playing back to back games then it can be a problem. With test cricket you get into that routine.
 
The west indies off a big english tour right? I am sure they train just as hard for 5 day 50 over and pro 20 cricket so using the excuse of being tired seems a pointless one in such a short version of the game.

I also highly doubt they train to just be able to ake pro 20 games as they play far more 5 day and 50 overs games in a season at the moment.

I cannot see how they could have been so tired that they could not field or bat in my opinion.

I don't get that either, maybe Gayle is referring to them not having enough time to strategize playing against SA properly? Regardless I didn't see a sub-par performance from them, the only difference in that game was Parnell bowling as well as he did.
 
Yup parnell is the reason they lost but also gayle again looking out of sorts.

where is that gayle that slaps 2 fours in the first over? He seems to be holding back and in doing so going out without doing much damage. He needs to stop worrying about people saying he is the west indies and get out there and play the gayle way, if they lose then so be it but he does have some back-up in bravo and symmonds who looks a super star if you ask me.

yeah they put him under a lot of pressure, I hope they reach the finals, it would do WI cricket a world of good,

Gayle has always been inconsistent. He's a dangerous payer because when he does fire he can take the game away form you, but he doesn't time the ball perfectly every game. Sometimes it comes off, sometimes (like today) it doesn't.
 
Gents, the guys name is spelt Simmons.

Good performance from the boys yesterday, although I got worried a bit when Simmons was in I think because he is such an unknown force most of the teams haven't worked a strategy for him and he will probably get a number of big scores in this tournament. With time he will be found out.

I reckon the Windies will thrash England but I have a funny feeling the Indians may very well lose against England today. They seem to be befuddled by short bowling and after the lashing from the English media I think the poms will be out to silence their critics. If India lose and the Windies win the last match that will be curtains for India.
 
You're writing India off after one poor game? I think they'll beat the english, easily.

The Windies have had a few good games but were demolished by End in their recent series. I think that could go to WI, but I'm not sure about it.

Yea i don't believe for one second that england can actually win a game in this group unless pieterson hits a kuk load of runs.

England should hope india do not bat first, are they playing on a good pitch or a slower one today?
 
I only care for my own team (SA) hence I am not concerned about who wins or loses the other games.

To win the tournament we will have to beat the best of the rest, whether in the semi's or the final.

I am concerned about our 6 match winning streak. At some some stage it must end and I would rather it be before the semi's or the final!!!

I hadn't realised that it was a WR streak.

There is only one team that can beat South Africa in this kind of form and at The Oval, it wasn't West Indies.

Yea look no doubt we look like we cannot lose this comp, but this is SA we have a bad track record but i cannot honestly see us losing to anyone but Sri lanka.

Man o man they have a potent attack and batting is just incredible. India could be a threat but i will wait and see if they win today before commenting because they need a massive win today.

India's a good team that has lost one match.

For sure, they let that match get away from them, had SA been in a similar position I can't see us losing that match.

But it is too soon to write off India. They should wallop Eng today, but they have a difficult route to the semis. They have the lowest NRR at the moment. Even if they beat England and us, they are not guaranteed to go through.
 
No i don't expect england to win today but all india need to do is set england say 160 or so and pieterson to hit 80 off 40 and they will lose.

So while i am not writing india off i am also not writing pieterson off, he is class and just like gayle can destroy any attack.
