Well that's where our new found bowling depth comes into play....with a generous helping of *****-hot fielding too. :D

Well every website is saying we won by 1 run even though NZ needed 4 runs off the last ball...which ended in a runout.

krycor, after my many years of watching cricket I've never seen runs awarded to a batsmen on a runout...unless the rules are different in T20:confused:

Ag, it doesn't really matter at all. Was just wondering aloud.
 
Great win. We made defending such an abysmal score look easy...
 
Loots Bosman is still recovering from a very serious injury sustained in a local game earlier this season.
 
I watched Criminal Minds. Switched on with 36 required from 18 balls. Looked simple from there...:D

erm runs gets awarded on run outs since forever?:> go watch cricket again =)

4 runs for a win, 3 to tie, 2 or less for loss.

Batsmen caught between stumps have the run not count but if they crossed to the other crease and touched behind the line with part of body/bat(crease line) then a run is awarded i.e. the run counts/gets added before the total runs are completed.

So they run one run(1run awarded), turn for another and complete it(1run awarded), parnell stumbles the return and they ran another.. I think it was smith who grabbed the ball knocked the stumps out ending the game and running out the batsmen who didn't cross on that end. Thus only 2 runs are awarded, last being a run out.

The foul up i refered to earlier was stuart broad who stupidly didn't hang onto the ball and run to the wicket vs netherlands, thereby affording them the opportunity to run another due to the batsmen being safe when 1st instance they were within the crease on that end, 2md one was where he missed and than ran on overthrow(i think i may have got the worder mixed up).

Anyways this stupid mistake was made before once when SA did it too.. but they learnt their lesson.. well the senior guys would remember it. Parnell.. well he was lucky smith covered.

ps. Its kinda like soccer and rugby with regards to when the ball is out of play at the end of the game.

Glad the bowlers got the chance to be in a pressure situation. Good on smith for giving the final over to parnell.

We fscked up the batting lineup last night.
How I think the line up should work:

Smith
Kallis
De Villiers
Duminey / Gibbs (Depending on what the situation is)
Boucher / Morkel (Depending on what the situation is)
Vd Merwe
Botha
Parnell
Steyn

Kallis and snith have shown that they are a good opening pair in this form of the game. AB is in form and thus you want him to be able to face as many balls as possible.

Then like the one guy said last night:"They should make a plan to get A. Morkel in at the right time". I agree 110%
 
It was a great game. However, there is one thing that is bugging me, Wayne Parnell is a great bowler, but going for 9.50 an over in such a tight game is just not on. He kept dishing up full tosses to Oram of all people.

And he was not swinging the ball, and IMO, he bowled so full to try and get some swing, but I did not see any of his swing. And yet at the other end Steyn and Kallis were moving the ball sideways!

Time to give Abdullah a shot I think.
 
Parnell is very young, steyn and kallis been around the block many times now, give the oke a chance to shine.

Chopping and changing will cost us, we need to develop his talent and not just drop him because he goes for 9.5 in one game.

I still think gibbs should open.
