Official Indy500 thread

Haha!

The ceremonial drink of milk.

/waits for the day a vegan wins the race :D

Except for, you know, winning the Indy 500.

Like I said, no Good at all, the failures on 3 of the top contenders cancel any good from the win, they break even in Indy, and will have a worse repo in F1.

I get where you're going, but next year folk will remember Sato won and not who retired... They'll probably remember Alonso, but that's more a function of the media he's had over the last couple of weeks.

Who had a mechanical failure at Monaco this afternoon? Did anyone have one at Catalunya? How about last year's Monaco race? See what I mean?

First time watching an Indy 500, enjoyed it. Well done Sato.

And the time slot is not too bad for Europe, England and Africa.
Alonso may have had a bad day but his appearance was a major win for Indy, I think they have just acquired several thousand more followers from outside of the Americas.

In true Honda style, ALonso bows out.

Great effort anyway, could be the future for FA.

Excellent performance from him, especially to come away with the highest average lap speed. Three (?) weeks ago he had never been around an oval in anger. Yesterday he tops the speed charts.

It would be awesome if this sparked a renewed interest in F1 drivers crossing the Atlantic.

If he manages to pull the triple crown off, you could bet others won't allow their egos not to try. Hamilton and Vettel leading the charge...

The Indy Fernando seems a lot happier than the jaded one we get in F1.

Excellent speech, I never realised he had such a great sense of humour, I guess he is normally to depressed to crack jokes when we hear him speak.

^^Woohoo! The man is on a roll :)
I wish Alonso were full time.

I reckon we might see some interesting news around September/October when contract negotiations starts . If not for Alonso , maybe for some other guys finding themselves without a drive ?
It looks like he definitely enjoyed the experience .
Paychecks look to be pretty good and with 7 different winners in 7 different races , if you are competitive it starts to look very enticing .
