Official June 2016 Tests Thread

If you look closely, you'll see faf trying to get away by lifting himself off the ground, but the bodies piling in just didn't allow him to do that... even though I don't think he wasn't at fault, the penalty probably should've gone Ireland's way because that's just the nature of the rules.

Yeah, I don't think he did it cynically, was a mass of bodies going in there, but then it's either penalty or at the very least treat it as unplayable - scrum, Ireland's ball.

Anyhoo, it's done. Faf established himself well, will hopefully keep Paige off the field. :p

Thank God Ruan Pienaar isn't part of the set-up anymore :crylaugh: Anyway, I wish we would stop with the high kicks, it's always been a gamble for possession but now you have yellow and red cards thrown into the mix

Agree... was completely against Faf's normal game to kick like that. It only tells me that he is being told by the coach to do that.

The Aussies were much much better than us. We would have gotten steamrolled if we were playing England. England simply executed their game plan to perfection and kicked magnificently. Australia made too many mistakes over the course. Could have been 3-0 or at least 2-1 to Australia.

So in that sense the RC will have NZ in first place, Australia second and we'll have a hard time finishing third if we play like this.

It is interesting that the JRFU only announced today that Mark Hammett is leaving the Sunwolves.

The Sunwolves are pretty much depleted, Yamada and Durutalo playing sevens and it looks like all the Polynesians are unavailable due to various reasons, Paea is still around… The JFRU managed to pull in Kotaki and Kin, I do not know anything about Kotaki other that he is a lock. Kin is a Shining Arcs player, small loosie, which played in Leitch’s place, he gave the Scots a good scare. They should also had tried to score Amanaki, but I think that he is being rested by the Shining Arcs to compete in the Top League and then who knows where he will end up... Hoping Jamie Joseph to secure Kin and Amanaki, he should also try to secure the lightning quick Filipino, Tim Bennets. Big roster to patch…

Yah well… Waratahs to have a homerun in Japan, I can only hope to see a competitive Sunwolves side as they have lost crucial depth, the little depth that they had been used to throughout the Super Rugby season. Maybe the Brave Blossom games upped their pluckiness? They played good running rugby against a traditional ‘test’ Scottish side.

See these two tries,

The Chiefs and Crusaders will make history this week, with thousands of fans counting down to the first ever Super Rugby game in Fiji.

...

Two days after tickets went on sale the Fiji Sports Council announced parts of the venue were close to selling out.

Around 19,000 fans are expected to pack out Suva's ANZ Stadium - where one covered stand holds 4000 people and another 15,000 will fill up grass and concrete embankments.

Online bookings show virtually all hotel rooms in Suva have sold out on Friday night.

Unfortunately, rain is forecast.

But it will be warm, with a temperature of 28C expected.

It is good they have decided to promote rugby in their supporting countries.

I'm actually really optimistic about our current bok side. The aussies look to be in a pretty bad place atm. The AB's are still good, but where never really tested all that much by that woeful welsh side.

Our defense yesterday was superb. We tackled the living daylights out of that Irish side. Don't think that it was anything other than a really good Irish side.

I really cannot understand how the rankings work. How can the English be in front of us on the World rankings when they have not beaten us in ten years? We have literally a decade long winning streak ( WIth one draw ) against them and still they are above us. Really how can you claim to be better than a side you have not beaten?

By your reckoning Japan will be above us in the rankings since we've never beaten them. It works on a point based system:

Rugby: Kyoto to host World Cup draw next May

The draw for the 2019 World Cup in Japan will be hosted in the city of Kyoto, the tournament's organizing committee announced Thursday.

The staging of the draw event, which will be conducted outside Britain or Ireland for the first time, was agreed Sunday after Japan Rugby 2019 Chief Executive Akira Shimazu and World Rugby visited Daisaku Kadokawa, the mayor of the city of Kyoto.

...

The draw will be based on the World Rugby Rankings two years before the showpiece event.

Twelve countries -- Argentina, Australia, England, France, Georgia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa and Wales -- secured their berths in Japan by finishing in the top three of their respective pools in the 2015 tournament in England. Eight places are still up for grabs.

I thought that the draw was to be this year in December.
