Manchester United 1 Sunderland 0 (6/12/08)
United made a moderate start to the campaign and were in danger of slipping further behind pace-setters Liverpool and Chelsea after a frustrating 90 minutes against managerless Sunderland. Roy Keane had walked out on the Black Cats only a few days earlier, but Ricky Sbragia ensured they were mean in defence at Old Trafford on a day when both the Reds and Blues had already posted comfortable away victories. But Nemanja Vidic came to United's rescue a minute into stoppage-time, tapping the ball home after Michael Carrick's effort had come back off the post.


Stoke 0 Manchester United 1 (26/12/08)
Returning from a successful Club World Cup campaign in Japan to play their first league fixture in almost a fortnight, a Boxing Day trip to Stoke did not look like the easiest way for United to make up lost ground, and so it proved for most of the game as the hosts dug in. But Stoke's hard work was undone in the final 20 minutes when Andy Wilkinson was sent off for a foul on Cristiano Ronaldo and then Carlos Tevez bagged a late winner as Sir Alex Ferguson's side showed their battling qualities once again.


Manchester United 3 Chelsea 0 (11/1/09)
The Red Devils showed they were hitting top gear in the league for the first time with a crushing victory over Chelsea which marked the beginning of the end for their manager Luiz Felipe Scolari. Vidic headed United into the lead, Wayne Rooney made it 2-0 when he turned in Patrice Evra's cross and the Blues' misery was complete four minutes from time when Dimitar Berbatov converted Ronaldo's free-kick. The result took United to within five points of Liverpool with two games in hand, the Reds having stumbled to a goalless draw at Stoke the previous day.


Manchester United 3 Aston Villa 2 (5/4/09)
This game will forever be remembered for its sensational winning goal from Federico Macheda, but it was also vital for United's momentum in the title run-in. Following their 4-1 hammering by Liverpool and a further loss at Fulham, Ferguson's men looked to be in trouble again when John Carew equalised Ronaldo's opener and then Gabriel Agbonlahor put Villa 2-1 up on the hour. But Ronaldo netted a second with 10 minutes to go and then 17-year-old Italian Macheda stole the headlines, coming off the bench and curling in a wonder-strike in the third minute of stoppage-time to take United back to the summit.


Manchester United 5 Tottenham 2 (25/4/09)
United pulled off an even greater comeback after finding themselves 2-0 down at half-time against Tottenham. Harry Redknapp was in dreamland when Darren Bent and Luka Modric scored in quick succession, but the game turned shortly after the interval when Howard Webb harshly adjudged Heurelho Gomes to have fouled Carrick in the box. Ronaldo slotted home the penalty and the floodgates opened, Rooney and Ronaldo scoring a minute apart before Rooney's second and a strike from Berbatov completed the rout. Three points clear of Liverpool having played a game less, the title was within touching distance once more for Ferguson and his team.

I was in Durban so only saw the trophy lifting and the interviews.

I'm sure Tevez and Ronaldo will stay. Ronaldo's words could've been interpreted as something different but Man United can give him everything he wants.
 
hmmm looks like Tevez values his friend more than he does United... oh well if they not willing to compromise with the whole economy like what it is atm AF is going to say bye bye to Tevez

That remains to be seen...

If he is gonna sit on the bench again next season, then maybe he is justified in leaving...

That friend pulled him out of poverty and into the limelight. Whatever the deal between the two - Kia has has done a lot for Tevez. Argentina is worse than SA with crime (in some places)... It's not a nice place to be living and you can bet your ass that he will not fsck over the guy who helped him "escape"...

This sounds almost like slavery :D

Then again Kia problably only cares about that 5mill more

hell if it was me 25 mill is still millions!

You'd expect this from Chelski...Pool normally have some sort of class and dignity in defeat. They should - they have had enough practice :)

Now you're just spouting bullsh1t henry. I fail to see when a Chelsea manager has ever failed to congratulate/acknowledge a job well done by another team. Don't start being a senseless prat all of a sudden. At least take some time to fit into it...

Hehe, fair enough.

A comment was made earlier that even dear old Mourinho, for all his sins, used to let players talk to the press after a win, but he would always face the criticism when Chelski lost. Fair play.

Rafa, on the other hand, seems to have lost the plot :)
 
RAFA is a nob watch him go on a spending spree only to win the League cup next season... KARMA's a bitch ;)

More likely they'll play their 1st team and still get knocked out by Burnley, then give the excuse that they are playing for the league, then lose ground and say they are concentrating on the CL and then we know the rest!:D:D
