Reds name 20-man squad

United are taking a strong 20-man squad to Amsterdam for the Europa League tie against Ajax with Nani, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones all back from injury.

Ashley Young also travels after missing the win over Liverpool last weekend but Ryan Giggs, Dimitar Berbatov and Patrice Evra remain at home.

Sir Alex has remained true to his word and selected a strong travelling party as he intends to take the competition seriously despite slipping out of the Champions League last year.

Anders Lindegaard, Nemanja Vidic, Darren Fletcher, Anderson and Michael Owen are among those still sidelined but the injury situation is starting to look a little healthier with Tom Cleverley also primed for his first action since October after making the bench on Saturday.

Despite plenty of talk that the boss would field a number of youngsters in the Europa League, Ezekiel Fryers and Paul Pogba are the only reserve-team regulars on the plane.

United: De Gea, Amos; Fabio, Rafael, Evans, Jones, Smalling, Fryers, Ferdinand; Valencia, Nani, Carrick, Young, Park, Scholes, Cleverley, Pogba; Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck.

Too exciting - this is the best batch of youngsters since the class of 92'. This is what Fergie has been building towards Its taken awhile but i suppose you dont always get this kind of talent coming through every year. What Fergie has done is use our acedemy and bought youth wisely to come to this

I could easily see De Gea, Cleverly, Jones, Smalling, the da Silva bro's, Wellbeck playing right now together and doing well (Not forgetting that Nani, Rooney, Chica, Ando are pretty young themselves or just reaching their prime)

Yeah but apparently that Erikson kid is one to watch and one our scouts are watching - so keep an eye out

Yeah pity he wasn't walking next to him but I regard him highly. One of the best CB's in the making.

Watch out for Eriksen. One of the highest rated youngsters in the world (same bracket as Gotze, Hazard, Wilshere etc.) United are apparently interested in him so will be a good scouting match.

3 people scored. Boateng, Robinho, Ibrahimovic. They aren't exactly outoppies, now are they. Sure, they do have some older players, but it was nothing like their squad a few years back.
