While I have my doubts about Moyes when it comes to championship and cup runs, I do not doubt his ability to develop players.

Phil Jagielka, Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines are who they are because of his ability to develop a player. Yes, Baines and Jagielka are not mentioned among the best (which is sad in Baines' case), but they are a couple of damn good players. Chelsea wanted Jagielka but had to take Gary Cahill when Moyes turned their offer down.

he has that ability no doubt with those players ...even pienaar went back cause he is such a good manager

but i feel there is the gap of the mentality of winning trophys

so yes he once united start winning then he will have that gap closed

He's 28 and in the prime of his career. He is arguably also one of the best attacking fullbacks in the world right now and equally accomplished on defense. I'd take him in place of Evra in a heartbeat and he should be England's first choice over Cole.

He will be 29 soon , doesnt make sense to replace a 32 year old with a 29 year old. Im pretty sure if they are looking at LB then it will be someone less than 26.

that is Moyes downfall.

My top 4 for next season
Chelsea
Man City
Arsenal
Man United

You're making judgement's now? You dont even know which players each team is buying and Moyes is yet to manage a single game. Nether has *Pelligrini or *Jose.

*I assume these two will be the new managers.

Especially for the price Everton will probably want.

Yup , the fact that hes English skyrockets his price.

Don't bother. I'm guessing he doesn't think the same about Rodgers despite him also winning sweet FA.

This is why you have Buttner... Evra is not up to the same level as Baines. Give Baines a three year deal, groom Buttner as his replacement and you have an excellent left back succession plan for the next 5 years at the least.

Never rated Evra on his defending, yet Baines is as equally excellent a defender as he is an attacking force. Moyes has improved him immensely compared to his time at Wigan. He now needs the next step forwards.

I don't seen any negatives in this scenario for you guys.

Buttner is a squad player, I don't think he's being groomed for regular first team play. Maybe Fabio.

The Everton supporters I've spoken to say that Baines also occasionally switches off during defensive duties.

Don't think that they can push for too much, especially if Baines hands in a transfer request... He only has two years left on his current deal. They do value him at 15mil apparently...

Doubtful that United will pay 15m for a player turning 29 this year (The RvP situation was obviously different).

Diame is a savage.

I read last year that United were interested in him, until it was found out he has a heart problem. Isn't that why Wigan let him leave on a free?

From what I've heard, Fabio has been decent at QPR. If he could make the same jump next season as Rafael did this season, we'd be sorted at LB for a long time :)

I dont want to judge too soon or too heavily but i dont think Buttner has the quality to play in the first team every week. My thinking is that United wont purchase a left back this season, they will instead keep with Evra for now and rather spend money on a cm and a winger. Perhaps also a replacement for Rooney if he leaves.

Domenico Criscito from Zenit is a propect
Filipe Luis is well established at left back

I would go for Baines - good 3 or 4 years

we also have fabio and im sure like rafael can be very good

why spend 12mil on baines when we have evra (who picked up his game once buttner came in) , buttner and fabio

+1

There is no negative in signing Baines. And I doubt you'd pay more than 15 million for him. And seeing as he is one of the best fullbacks in the world right now, 15 million is an absolute bargain.

We don't need a LB, Buttner, Fabio and Evra are sufficient for now.

Right now top priority is the CDM (Fellaini) and CM (Stootman)

Rooney can leave for all he wants Kagawa is ready to replace him :)

To be fair, Evra does that plenty...

Even if it were the player that created the most goal scoring opportunities out of all players in the top 6 leagues in Europe?

Criscito was a prospect a few years ago...
Filipe Luis, one of my favourite players... not as consistent as Baines I feel, but an excellent player indeed.

Oh no doubt, I'm not suggesting otherwise, and he's been a lot better this season. What I was saying that Baines isn't perfect.

Fair point. But it depends on how Moyes sees our squad. SAF liked attacking as hell fullbacks paired with CB's who could deal with one-on-one situations. Now, not saying Moyes hasn't played like that, but just that we'll have to see.

And if Baines was 25/26 then I'd say he'd be a lock for United, but with the Glazer's transfer policy, it's a doubt for me, especially since they could trust SAF to carry on winning and now they're dealing with a relatively unknown entity.
