Lampard - Rooney is the best
Frank Lampard believes Wayne Rooney is a bigger talent than his former Chelsea team-mate Gianfranco Zola.

Lampard, 31, has played with a number of top-class stars for West Ham, Chelsea and England and admits Zola stands out among the greats.

However, he believes international team-mate Rooney has the edge due to his power and awareness.

"Wazza is the best," he said in the Daily Mail.

"When he exploded onto the England scene at 17 and played at Euro 2004 with me, I'd never seen anything like him for his power and all the other attributes he has that stand out.

"As a midfielder, as soon as I get on the ball, I want to play it in behind the other team's midfield or defence.

"I need someone to be ahead of that action, already getting into a good position.

"As you learn to play with Wayne, you realise that his awareness is exceptional. It's his key strength - his game awareness.

"Franco Zola is top-class - as a player, a man and evidently, too, as a coach.

"He is still way up there, but the football Wayne is producing for England makes him a very, very special player."

Man Utd boss doesn't expect any more new arrivals at Old Trafford

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he will not be making any more summer signings after explaining that he refuses to pay the inflated fees of Europe's top stars. (More like they don't want to come to the 'Best team in the World' hey Fergie)

Ferguson believes that the transfer market has 'caught fire' this summer with players' valuations going through the roof.

The Scot highlighted that he is used to paying over the odds for players but he would not be held to ransom over certain prospective targets.

It means that United fans will have to make do with the arrivals of Antonio Valencia, Michael Owen, who has been handed the number seven shirt, and Gabriel Obertan as the Premier League champions get accustomed to life without Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez.

"It is the end of our business, so all these stories about who we are supposed to be getting - forget it," he said.

"Everywhere in England and in Europe the players' values have shot sky high. I don't think any of the transfers that you see happening are realistic but for some reason it seems to have caught fire this summer.

"It is a very unusual summer and difficult to get value because of that."

We need genuine midfielders and Ferguson has failed to land any. Looking forward to winnng nothing next season...
 
not like Liverpool, chelsea went on a summer spending spree...

I'd seriously laugh at RM if they can't win their first 3 matches :D
 
Agree with mercurial. Can't believe SAF hasn't bought a single decent midfileder, not a winger. I mean our midfield was the reason we lost in the CL last year.

I doubt Nani Anderson Carrick Valencia is gonna cut it :/
