Hi All

Just in case any of you are interested and have not seen the announcements in the media recently, we are now official agents for Meizu in South Africa. Currently we have available off the shelf Pro 6 and M3 Note.

regards

Thanks Neoprod, you are a little quicker than I am..

That is the website, and you can order directly from there. We are also selling on Takealot.com

A little hint for anybody interested in the Pro6 is that Takealot.com is having a launch special, so it will be worth your while comparing prices. These phones are official imports, supplied by us and as such are fully supported, so don't be scared to get from them. I am not sure how long they will be offering that price for though.

For those of you who may be interested, there has just been a public release of Flyme 6 Beta for various devices, including the M2 Note.

Just be aware that its still a Beta version, so might have some inconvenient bugs. This is why it is not yet available OTA. Feel free to give feedback. I have tried it on a Pro6, and it is looking good.

enjoy

I think it is extremely unfortunate that Meizu is still running the Flyme 6 firmware for the M2 Note on Android 5.1. Volte is also still not available on Flyme 6

I had to get a new phone due to a smash and grab. I was thinking of getting another Meizu, but decided against it. Went for the Lenovo Zuk Z2 instead. Great specs, great price, comes with Snapdragon 820 CPU, full HD 5" screen and Android M out of the box - upgradble to Nougat.

Sorry Meizu, you lost my respect when it comes to your software. I will no longer be recommending your brand like I used to previously.

^, agree, Ockie. Their rolling out of updates to their skin is great but the underlying OS is over 2 years old now.

Tell me more about this Lenovo...where did you get it from? My M2 Note is still going strong but I might hand it down to my little brother if I can get hold of a decent replacement.

Ordered it from Bangood. GTX gaming also has one that he ordered from them. Think I paid about $170 dollars for it. It is on its way. Hope it arrives in SA this week. According to tracking it has left Singapore.

This is what I paid. The extra for the shipping is optional.

Ockie, Sorry to hear about your incident. The Z2 is not a bad phone from what I hear, and I hope that you are happy with it. Perhaps you will rethink Meizu again next time around - Please keep an eye on how the updates go post Flyme 6 Beta release.

Neoprod, depending on how happy you want to make your little brother, you may want to hold off on that a bit. The current talk is about releasing the "production" version of Flyme 6 for this phone, and then doing a Android 6 update for it in the background. I am not sure what the logic is for that is, but at least it should get you there. Also, I hear that Flyme 6 production release may actually support VoLTE as the internal trial had. I have a particular interest in this, so will be keeping a close eye on it.

Book-marked, thanks. I like the 1cm smaller height...should make it feel much more comfortable during one-handed use. Will take a look if the itch gets itchier :p

Ja, after my smash and grab there is no way I will be displaying my phone on the windscreen in the cradle anymore. That is one of the big reasons I went for this phone, cause it will fit in my cupholder where I can still see it 100% for navigation, but it wont be on show for any thieving douche bag on the prowl for cars to smash and grab.

Same for me on the chinese meizu even with whatsapp selected to be allowed to run in the background.

Also I dropped my meizu today when the alarm woke me up in th morning. No damage except the centre of the screen does not respond to touch anymore. Sigh....

New screen and touch digitizer is only R250 on aliexpress so getting one.

Sigh.

So after I failed to get a screen that time I managed to get a screen from ebay and took like 2 months to come. Installed the new screen today after the phone was laying in my draw for like a year and half.

Phone working fine now but the amount of updates sjoe.... Exited to use this phone again :D
